My child has been battling tuberous sclerosis since birth, and now at 22 years old, life remains an uphill struggle. They’ve never been able to attend school—they are completely homebound and dependent on their parents—and they have no use of their left arm. When the weather shifts, things get even harder; we deal with facial flushing and intense physical tremors... It's exhausting. Currently, they are on a regimen of Rivotril, Eptil, and a few other medications. Speech is limited to short bursts, and even sleep isn't restful because seizures occur during the night. Lately, there's been this heavy wheezing in the lungs—our primary care doctor suspects pneumonia and has started a course of injections. They can eat most things, but they just seem constantly lethargic and weak. I was reading a wellness magazine and saw a suggestion for B12 capsules containing apricot kernel extract, Vitamin C, and Reishi mushrooms to help boost the immune system. Do you think something like that would actually help? While searching online, I kept coming across mentions of
Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, which apparently affects those living with TSC.
