Hey everyone.

I'm looking at picking up some new RAM, and a buddy of mine pointed me toward this specific kit:

I'm wondering if there's anything I should be worried about here—like potential system crashes or stability issues. If you guys know anything about this, please let me know. Feel free to grill me for any specific specs regarding my rig if you need them.

Best,🙂

Hey there.

First you go ahead and dump the entire spec sheet for your rig, and then—instead of actually playing a quiz—you just get an answer handed to you on a silver platter. 😁

By the way—just a heads up—that's laptop RAM you're looking at.

You're stuck with DDR2 only...
Either 2x4GB or 2x2GB..

And tell your buddy to just unplug the PC and go mow the lawn instead.👍

Look, you can just grab a 2 GB stick and swap out that 1 GB module you're currently running—boom, you've got 4 GB of RAM total—it's pretty straightforward:

The motherboard tops out at 8 GB, so if you really wanted to max it out, you could try hunting down two 4 GB modules, though honestly, I have no clue where you'd even find those these days.

Alright, thanks. I'll go ahead and order this RAM. I'll give you a shout if things start acting up once it's installed.

I’m feeling a bit stuck on something regarding my RAM speed, and I can't quite wrap my head around why the numbers aren't adding up. Based on what I have installed, the speed should be sitting at 1333 MHz, which means the base clock frequency ought to be 667 MHz, but for some reason, everything is showing 532 MHz instead—which would imply it's running at 1066 MHz. It’s really throwing me for a loop because I distinctly remember checking this before and it was showing 667 MHz, so I don't know what changed. Even now, when I pull up Aida, it still identifies the slot as a 4GB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM) module, so the hardware seems to recognize the specs correctly. If anyone out there has dealt with this kind of discrepancy or knows why my frequency might be dropping like this, I would honestly appreciate it if you could walk me through what's going on.

Just hop into your BIOS and get that clock speed set up properly.
