I'm not sure if it's just the fans... I mean, could it be something on the motherboard or maybe the CPU??

It doesn't always happen, though. It mostly kicks in when I actually launch a program. It isn't like it's constantly spinning wildly, but it's like it's "struggling"... it's just an irritating sound...

And you know how it goes... the computer just restarts itself out of nowhere...

The power supply...

What do you mean by loud? Like, is there a chirping sound?

When it restarts on its own, does it hit you with a BSOD or some kind of error message? Also, what kind of power supply are you running?

CORSAIR 550W, iPhone Series, 12cm fan, ATX

CPU: Intel Core i5 750 2.66 GHz quad-core
Motherboard: ASUS P55A-UD3, s1156, Intel Core i5, 4x DDR3 2200/1333/1066
GTX 950

No error messages... sometimes it just asks: "Start macOS normally?"

I mean, I don't know if it's the power supply or the other components... hard to tell.

It seems to be around the processor area, though I'm not entirely sure if it's the motherboard itself...
It's not exactly a chirp, but you can tell it's struggling whenever I try to open any program. It used to make this loud humming noise, but it wasn't sharp... just heavy...

I honestly think you should just give the whole rig a deep clean—get all that dust out and swap out the thermal paste on the CPU... then we can see if the issue persists. Once you've done that, just leave the side panel off and when you hear that noise again, lean in close to pinpoint exactly which component is acting up.

It’s already been cleaned, and I swapped the paste about two weeks ago. I honestly can't tell exactly where the sound is coming from... maybe it isn't the power supply, but I'm not totally sure...

I'm thinking about taking it over to the repair shop in Centerville tomorrow to have them take a look...

Does anyone know of a better shop they could recommend?

Thanks for the help.

Pop the case open. Roll up a piece of paper into a little dart, take aim, and let me know what you hear.

I'm still thinking about what we discussed earlier regarding those policy shifts—it really makes you wonder if anyone in Washington actually sees where this is headed, doesn't it? It feels like we're constantly reacting to the latest headline instead of building something that lasts. I’d love to hear more thoughts on this from the rest of you—what’s your take on the long-term impact? kaže:

I think I’m going to take him down to the shop downtown tomorrow to have them check things out and see what's actually going on.

Does anyone have a better service they’d recommend?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Everything feels pretty much the same these days—it’s just not what it used to be. Nowadays, everyone seems to be a tech expert, and you just go wherever is most convenient... at least, that's how I see it.

It’s almost certainly a power supply issue. That chirping or buzzing sound is a pretty common headache with those Seasonic-based platforms, much like what you might see with a Corsair VX series unit.
