I just got some news that my dad has fluid in his lungs, and after doing a bit of digging, I realized it might be what they call pulmonary edema. First off, I want to mention that I’m only 16, so I don't know the first thing about medicine or how these kinds of illnesses work. Honestly, I am just really scared for my dad's health right now. I was hoping someone here could help walk me through what this condition actually is. I’ve been scrolling through various medical forums online, and everyone seems to be saying the same thing—and I assume they're probably right—that it's linked to heart issues, specifically because the heart muscle isn't strong enough. But I would really appreciate it if you guys could explain more about how this happens. Is it possible for this to lead to something even worse, God forbid? Is it life-threatening? My family is currently living in one state while my dad is working over in another, so I'm feeling pretty lost on whether I should head out there with my mom to be with him. People tell me it isn't dangerous, but after reading all these scary posts on the internet, I'm feeling pretty anxious. So, please, if anyone can tell me about the risks and whether this is truly a fatal condition, I would be so grateful. Thank you all so much in advance.
