I took my three-year-old daughter to the dentist yesterday for her own checkup, and while we were there, I asked if they could take a quick look at her teeth too. The second she opened her mouth, the dentist pointed out that she’s missing a lateral incisor. I was genuinely confused—her teeth are spaced so evenly that we hadn't even noticed a gap at home; it looks like her canine is just growing right next to the central incisor. How does a tooth simply fail to develop? The dentist mentioned it likely won't grow in, but she also noted that this shouldn't prevent her permanent teeth from coming in correctly later on.
