Missing dots in Windows Explorer!

I think I might have accidentally clicked something because now my Windows Explorer is acting weird—those little three dots you usually see at the top when you're inside a folder, right above the first file, that let you jump back to the previous folder... they've just vanished.
Any idea how I can get them back?
I already tried toggling the view settings from list to details to icons and everything else, but still nothing... nothing at all.

Right, fine—but the actual facts missing from the post matter more. For instance, which version of Windows are we talking about? Windows XP, 7, 8, 10? Etc.

(Also, did those dots disappear in a way similar to this group -> ... dot?)

Here’s a screenshot from a folder like "Windows," running on Windows 7...

You can see how those little dots—the ones you click if you want to jump back to the previous folder—are missing right between the "Name" tab and that first "Add-ins" folder.

I'm guessing you weren't using some third-party software to give you that option? Because, by default, Windows 7 doesn't really have that feature. It seems like you're expected to either use the arrow keys in the top left corner—you know, the back and forward buttons—or just click the previous folder in the address bar (based on your screenshot, you'd probably be clicking on Windows or C🙂.

Nah, Windows doesn't really have that, maybe just in that "Open With" pop-up window, but in the standard folders? No way... where are you even seeing that?

Maybe you're thinking of that little up arrow sitting right next to the address bar, kind of like an "up to" button?
