Quick question about something I went through yesterday.
Around 7 PM, I popped a pill and a half of Praxiten (50mg)—just to chill out, doesn't really matter why. But here’s the kicker:
By 9 PM, totally forgetting I’d even taken the Praxiten, I swallowed a 10mg Xanax. Within thirty minutes, this massive wave of anxiety just hits me out of nowhere... I started looking over my shoulder, convinced someone was watching me, staring me down, trying to mess with me.
So, I gotta ask... did I just lose it, or is this kind of reaction actually normal when you mix two different benzos?

Honestly, mixing substances on such short notice isn't exactly a genius move—especially if you haven't got a clue how they’re going to interact once they hit your system. And what do you mean, a 100 mg dose of Xanax? 😲 Are we talking about those blue pills?

Actually, it was 10mg, my bad.
Total dream state... floating in a bubble.
The panic isn't hitting me today, but man, yesterday... I’m never gonna forget that.
That Xanax honestly just makes me feel like myself again, but yesterday I really needed something to take the edge off, so I just downed that and completely blanked on my Paxil.
Scared the absolute hell out of me.
Maybe this anxiety is tied to the other stuff I mess with every now and then, though I probably shouldn't even go there...
Just everything hitting at once?
I don't know, I'm losing my freaking mind...

Is there seriously nobody on this entire forum who actually knows what they're talking about?
So, I picked up some Xanax and Forte tablets from a neighbor who isn't using them anymore—she knows exactly what kind of state I'm in, so...
I know it’s stupid and I don't do this all the time, but last night I just needed to be knocked out, you know? But instead of sleeping, I got hit with these insane shocks... it was impossible.
It wasn't just regular anxiety, either. It was a total sensory overload, more like a hallucination than just being scared.
I just need to know what the fallout is going to be. I don't want to get hit by another one of those shocks tonight and end up completely losing my mind...

I wouldn't say it’s because you're mixing things together. It's more likely that it would just happen naturally on its own. I used to mix all sorts of stuff back in the day, and that never happened to me once. Still, I wouldn't recommend mixing them, even if that isn't the direct cause. Actually, don't even think about

First off, you aren't taking these regularly and you haven't built up a tolerance. Second, taking 10mg of Xanax is absolutely reckless. The maximum recommended daily dose of Xanax is 4mg. That is an enormous amount of medication; do not ever do that again.
And if you’re mixing this with other drugs, I have nothing left to say to you except: STOP IMMEDIATELY! If you are using other substances, it is highly likely that such a combination is what triggered your hallucinations.

Mixing different types of benzos isn't a good idea. Seriously. You took some pretty heavy doses there, and since you aren't on a steady regimen—just slamming two pills in quick succession—your body is obviously freaking out. Next time you find yourself in this position where you feel like you need to take something, just stick to one single medication, even if you need a higher dose. Try cutting that Xanax in half first... wait to see if it actually works... and if all else fails, then maybe take the other half if you're still spiraling.
I once went through a terrifying bout of hallucinations because of a misprescribed medication (Sulpirid)... and let me tell you, it is absolutely nightmare fuel.

Thanks so much, everyone... seriously, if anyone else has some advice to throw my way, please, I'm all ears... I was actually starting to freak out that I’d completely lost my damn mind.
Since you guys mentioned it's smarter to just stick to one type of this crap for calming down, I'm kind of stuck on what to actually take... I mean, I've got Paxil, Xanax 10, Prozac, and Normabell that I got prescribed.
To answer the person asking—yeah, I was mixing the pills with drugs, and from everything I've heard, that's probably the main reason everything went sideways on me.
And honestly, screw it, I am never doing that again. It's either meds or drugs, depending on how the day goes, maybe just some weed to take the edge off.
Thanks y'all

Don't mention it! Just speak up if anything else is eating at you or keeping you on edge.
And you know better than most—medication is just a crutch, not the cure itself.
Hang in there! 👍

Out of everything you just listed, taking Xanax is probably the least concerning option. If you’re dealing with pure anxiety, go with Xanax, but if you need something more to help calm you down and take the edge off, Normabel is a better bet. Just whatever you do, don't go mixing in Praxitene.

Prozac is an antidepressant. If your doctor prescribed it for you, they likely instructed you to take it at the same time every single day to maintain a consistent dose. It isn't meant to be taken on an as-needed basis like a benzodiazepine.

Maybe just ask your neighbor for medical advice next time. I won't be mean about it, so let's just assume she's a doctor.

@slyskipper7:
Your neighbor is playing a seriously dangerous game by handing out those pills like candy. Beyond just being ethically wrong, it’s actually illegal.
I'm not sure if you have an official diagnosis, but since you were prescribed medications like Prozac and Normabel, I assume there's something going on...
Look, I really wanted to share my thoughts on how you're handling these medications and offer some perspective based on what I've seen, but honestly? It's not worth it with people like you. Especially not here on this forum. I won't even bother trying to wish you luck, because frankly, you aren't going to find any. Believe me. Bye.

lol.
People like me?
And what am I supposed to be? This isn't "messing around" with meds, and I didn't get Prozac on prescription.
Only the Normabel was prescribed.
So I'm not playing games with medication, I actually have a diagnosis. They recommended Xanax to me a long time ago, but back then I told them I wasn't taking that crap.
Now, here I am, forced to take it.
Basically, your advice sounded okay at first, but now you're just being insulting.
You don't even know half the story, so stop acting like a know-it-all owl and do your homework before you start spitting on people. And as for luck, I have plenty... clearly you don't, considering you're some jerk online getting off on messing with people's heads.
I asked for advice, not your judgment.
My neighbor is a retired doctor.
Whatever.

In that case, you should definitely sit down with her and walk through exactly what happened during that scare.

Yeah, yeah, I hear ya.
Look, take the advice somewhere else.
I'm not looking for lectures from someone who's more messed up than I am.
I just came on here to see if anyone else has dealt with something similar...
Anyway, thanks everyone.

Mixing different types of benzos is a terrible idea, seriously. You didn't say why you're even taking them, but if you're on anything that messes with your central nervous system, mixing in alcohol or drugs is a massive no-go. And if you think using weed to come down will help, you’re probably headed for a bad trip—trust me, I've been there. It's a total nightmare when that anxiety hits while you're high... you could end up stuck in rehab for years, maybe even for life.
Figure out which med actually works for you. Personally, Xanax is fine, but this dosage is way too much—even for Xanax. Honestly, you can start getting hooked on just 1mg a day after a few weeks.
