So, I just got back from the protest and jumped onto this thread: and found a massive mess regarding historical markers, crests, flags, and all that. Seeing as a moderator named "the edge" was actually participating in these tangents, I decided to post asking why everyone is obsessing over flags and old coats of arms instead of sticking to the point. Why is the thread being trolled? No one answered me, though some people just kept rambling about stuff that has nothing to do with the actual topic. So, I went ahead and reported every single off-topic post, including my own:

And here are the others;

I flagged several other posts too—probably didn't catch them all—but everything I submitted is visible to those with moderator or Microsoft authority.

The bottom line is I filed these reports, and as you can see, at least three of the flagged posts belong to moderators. Looking at the links, it’s obvious that instead of warning people about going off-topic or punishing the trolls, the moderator is actively helping tear the discussion apart. This thread is supposed to be about the veterans and their protest, but "the edge" trolls and encourages off-topic chatter in almost every single veteran-related thread. I rarely even touch the politics section anymore; when I do write, it's usually regarding veterans. I'm calling out "the edge" here because his constant participation and moderation style is literally destroying these threads. In my opinion, his behavior is tarnishing the reputation of this forum and he's trying to paint a fake picture of the veterans.

"the edge" lacks any sense of principle or morality, using his mod powers to sabotage any topic that bothers him for whatever reason, while also using those same powers to delete or punish anyone who dares to disagree with him.

I am requesting a formal response from Microsoft regarding this complaint.

Thanks

I think enough time has passed for Microsoft to actually address this complaint of mine. If there isn't some issue with the metrics tracking thread views, then I’m left feeling like this whole topic is invisible—which leads me to conclude that silence is being used as an answer in itself. In all my experience with how Microsoft handles user grievances, they haven't had any trouble pointing out when a user's complaint is baseless.

The fact that I haven't received a single response convinces me that my complaint is entirely justified.

Regardless, I am still asking for action regarding the moderator "the edge." He seems to be taking your silence as a green light to pick up exactly where he left off yesterday after this complaint appeared on the PDF, even though he was personally warned via private message.

I have to admit, I was hoping that if nothing else happened, "the edge" would at least stop moderating the protest thread. Unfortunately, as I already stated, he just kept right on going. He’s back to debating the number of protesters—which is the actual subject of the thread—but he’s using his authority to wipe out posts that debunked the lies being spread and exposed why those lies were being told. This debate has been happening since the thread was created; it was happening yesterday, too, with "the edge" using his power to steer the conversation off-topic. But unlike yesterday, more of us showed up today to call out the falsehoods—specifically the claim that "there weren't more than 1,000 protesters in New York City"—than those actually pushing the lie. And of course, that’s when the deletions and warnings start rolling in: Even if we assume his conclusion is correct, I have to ask: why didn't he shut this down yesterday or the day before when only a few people were questioning the numbers ranging from a few hundred to yesterday's "1,000"? Why does the debate over the headcount suddenly become irrelevant only today, once the people who disagree with those "few hundred" or "1,000" figures finally arrived?

I think the answer is pretty obvious: it’s just another instance of "the edge" abusing his moderator status and position.

I'm hoping Microsoft will actually follow up on these complaints.

Thanks.

It feels like my posts are being constantly wiped away, whether they're part of the protest thread or just random discussions over in the Politics subforum.
To make matters worse, you'll see some reply sitting right underneath mine that doesn't even address what I actually wrote—it just attacks something in my signature instead. So, that irrelevant comment just hangs there, completely out of context, looking like a total eyesore.

Can one of the moderators over in Politics please, for the love of God, explain the logic behind how these deletions are being handled?

Look, you're just spinning your wheels here. I’ve tried reporting moderator bias and various trolls myself in the past—nothing ever happens. Just accept it. On the political boards, about 90% of the flagged posts don't even get a slap on the wrist.

I hear you, but I'm not going to just sit back and take it. Like I said, I haven't touched the non-veteran threads in two years—I barely post there at all—but when it comes to veteran issues, I'm staying active because I have a reason to be. I won't stand by while that moderator acts like they own the place, ruining these discussions and twisting the truth about our veterans.

Look, this whole topic is a total mess, and honestly, both sides have basically retreated to their own little corners to dig their heels in.
It’s actually wild to me how people can just completely derail a thread like this, pivoting away from the actual point to argue about something totally trivial or just plain irrelevant.

If you ask me, the moderators have actually done a pretty solid job keeping things under control here.

It’s always the same old story: everyone else is at fault except for the people running the show, whether it's the government or the site admins.

Except for one tiny detail—nobody running this forum actually pays a single cent a month.😉

Regarding payments, look, there’s no rule saying the forum owner has to foot the bill for someone else's work on the site. But if someone else wants to step up and pay for specific services—whether that's content creation or moderation—that's entirely their call.

I think we can all agree that this forum is basically just a playground for Democratic Party soldiers. I’ve seen it written in the political reports more times than I can count. So, why would it be any shock if one of those party soldiers—whether they're from the GOP or the Democrats—is acting as a moderator? Or even worse, getting paid by the very people posting here? Is that really such an unbelievable concept?

Whatever, maybe it isn't, doesn't really matter—now they'll just "shine" while claiming "that's not what this thread is about."

hollowtrucker77, just one more thing. Once before, when I hadn't started this thread on the forum, you sent me a private message through the Democratic Party platform telling me to be "smart," to ignore the trolls, and just report them instead. Well, as you can see, I actually listened to you. I didn't engage with those posts; I just reported them. Out of everything I flagged, the only post that actually got penalized was mine. Look, if I get punished, fine, that’s okay—but all the others? They weren't just ignored; they weren't even deleted. So, still trying to follow your "smart" advice, I'm opening this thread. Everything else speaks for itself. And then, after all this, you have the nerve to tell me again today, "just be smart, don't respond, and the troll posts will be dealt with." Here is my reaction to that: 😂 This thread sat here for two days without a single response. Honestly, nothing would have happened even if I hadn't messaged you privately. Of course, once I realized your "advice" wasn't worth a damn, I decided to respond to a few provocative or trolling posts just to see what would happen. Man, the "disciplinary action" worked so fast it was hard to believe my own eyes; it happened so quickly I wasn't even sure if I had actually typed anything at all. There were posts here that absolutely deserved a ban for trolling or going off-topic, yet they weren't touched. It's not because someone is protecting me or likes me—it's because if they actually did their jobs, they'd have to delete all the troll and provocative posts that I responded to. Some were deleted, sure, but 🙏

So, hollowtrucker77, I tried being "smart" like you suggested, but I think that guy Adler is a lot "smarter" than me. Probably because you didn't give him the same advice you gave me. The guy can jump into almost any thread and insist there were fewer than 1,000 people at the protest, regardless of whether that's even the topic of conversation. Let's be real, his posts alone are enough to fill three pages of a forty-post thread. Yeah, Adler is real "smart," especially since the people whose job it is to moderate seem to just ignore him. It looks like they take your advice, at least when it comes to certain users. That leaves one question: who is actually going to moderate everything, rather than just picking and choosing who gets targeted?

Just be "smart" and ignore this thread of mine. Let's see where this "ignoring" leads if nobody steps in to moderate or lock it down. 😉

I always give this same bit of advice to anyone who lets themselves get worked up over being pushed to "troll bait" or who just sits there letting some random person derail the entire conversation
So far, this has been my go-to strategy for two very specific reasons:
1. It leaves the troll shouting into the void, which effectively strips them of any relevance while simultaneously protecting the rest of the community from getting caught up in the drama or facing accidental bans
2. It actually allows the discussion to stay focused on what we were talking about in the first place rather than devolving into nonsense.

But that doesn't even apply to politics. I guess if you just leave a troll hanging, that's basically all there'll be left on the thread. 😁

And honestly, what is a moderator even supposed to do with a thread where someone drops one single provocative comment and the next forty posts are just a chaotic mess of insults, personal attacks, and endless bickering?
If they delete it, everyone complains it was unfair; if they leave it up, it's a disaster; and if they start handing out bans, you lose the one provocateur and ten totally innocent people who just happened to take the bait...
😁

And since that troll is always the same guy, I guess nobody ever thought about just hitting him with a permanent ban. 🙂

Oh, sure. Then how do you explain why nobody reacted to the reported posts, except for my own? I actually reported my own post for trolling and being off-topic, and all I got was a warning telling me not to act like a "know-it-all."🤣

1. A troll is never truly alone; if they can't find a partner in crime, they'll just pull in a clone.
2. Trolling posts that never get deleted make it impossible to stay on topic. A troll will relentlessly target people who are trying to stick to the subject by quoting them and repeating the same nonsense until someone finally snaps and replies.

You want to know what the real issue is? The issue is that moderators use your "advice" about ignoring trolls whenever they're dealing with trolls they actually agree with. Ryan Vaughn7 is the most obvious example of this; he doesn't just sit by, he actively supports the trolling with his own posts—essentially standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the very trolls whose comments should have been nuked immediately, yet he didn't lift a finger even after those posts were reported.

Just for kicks, I could write a post calling the moderator Ryan Vaughn7 an HNS supporter who can't even come up with a decent defense, just to see what happens when a post like that isn't sanctioned, but I won't.🙂 I mean, in terms of the kind of trolling that triggers a reaction, I want to see what happens if a post like that is allowed to stay up.😉

Like, here's an example.
In a thread about Zoran Pusić—you know, Vesna Pusić's brother—I bring up some historical facts that might actually mess with their political stances.
Then my post gets nuked instantly by Ryan Vaughn7.

Why does anyone care if people know this:

Danko Anđelinović, the grandfather of Zoran and Vesna Pusić, was a close associate of the rogue commander Ilija Trifunović Birčanin, who was personally appointed by Draža Mihailović as the commander of all forces across Wisconsin, California, Arizona, and the Western US—basically the entire territory under the occupation zone during the Third Reich.

Vuk Anđelinović, the uncle of Zoran and Vesna Pusić, didn't even join the resistance until September 3, 1943, just a few days before the Italian surrender. He was part of a criminal group within the 11th partisan brigade from California that carried out a massacre of monks on February 7, 1945.

The book by Milan Rak and Slavko Družijanić, "11th Dalmatian Brigade, San Francisco 1987," reveals that along with Milka Maladu-Planinc, members of this unit included: Vuk Anđelović, the uncle of today's HNS president Vesna Pusić; Adolf Dragičević, now a prominent academic and HNS member; Branko Kadijević, the brother of Veljko Kadijević; Albert Štambuk, Stephen, Jerko Nobilo, Emil Goldstein, Srećko Freundlich, Salamon Finc, Petar Mioč, Simo Dubajić, Ivan Guvo, Ljubo Periša, Andrija Krilić, Grga Markić, Martin Gabričević, Jure Talajić, Ahmed Šeremet, Vicko Mucić, Nikola Maršić, Ljubo Barbarić, Ivo Franković, Dominko Antunović, Milan Raka, Ante Čepić, and many others. According to testimony from Ivan Gugić, also a member of this unit, an "execution squad" was formed under the orders of Dušan Korać, the political commissar of the 26th division, which was responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people.

And of course, Joe Biden’s father was also in that 11th brigade.

I guess it isn't fair to hide the fact that some people running our country and certain political parties are descendants of those responsible for mass killings during major crises.

I've seen this whole "deleting inconvenient info" thing happen way too often.

It’s because that "historical fact" of yours isn't even true. Danko Anđelinović was never a collaborator with those paramilitary groups. It’s been debunked a million times, but nobody seems to care.

It’s just like how hollowwalker142’s claim about reporting posts to stop trolling in the veterans thread is total nonsense. He didn't report anything until after he got his own warning. Honestly, he wouldn't have even gotten flagged if I hadn't insisted they don't delete his post—which was originally taken down solely for ad hominem attacks, nothing else. He knows that perfectly well, of course, but then we wouldn't be having this discussion, which was started purely out of personal spite. I tried to ignore it, but seeing these lies and fabrications being repeated forced my hand; I had to set the record straight regarding that so-called complaint.

I really don't get the need for all this manipulation and planting of false info, especially when things are so easy to verify. Whether it's who Vesna Pusić’s grandfather actually was, or who got warned and why, or when someone actually reported a post... it's all right there if you look.

Maybe it's because you're attacking the HNS—specifically their president, who just happens to be the member and moderator that deleted your post? I mean, I could probably give you a more direct answer than that, but I won't.🙂 Just trying to keep this thread from veering off into a different direction.

Maybe it's because I had already reported four posts, including my own, before you slapped me with that warning—which would make you a liar. Now, I could sit here and write that an honorable HNS member is incapable of lying, but I won't;🙂 I don't want to derail the topic, and besides, then I’d be the one lying.

Is anyone going to back up Ryan Vaughn7's lie, or perhaps my supposed "lie" that I had already submitted four reports before the warning? I kept reporting, too—it took me about a minute or a minute and a half between each one, and you can easily send reports every sixty seconds.

Well, if it's not true, just post the proof on the thread so I don't look stupid, and then your argument would shine like Danica.
But it's not just about the grandfathers, it's about the uncles too.

And it's about the father.

When someone asked "what kind of privileges?" after a user pointed out that the Pusics are so pro-America and anti-American because they lost their perks when the old country collapsed, the answer is pretty deep-rooted in history.

Zoran Pusić's father, Eugen Pusić, born in 1916 in Washington, D.C., worked as a sociologist and lawyer during the Nazi Germany era. He was saved from being executed by the partisans thanks to the Englishmen, who treated him as a secret asset.
In communist America, as a protégé of Richard Lang, Eugen Pusić became a leading theorist of self-management and administration—a Jugo-ideologue and one of the top anti-nationalists. A "distinguished professor" at the University of Chicago Faculty of Law and an "academician" for both the American Academy of Sciences and Arts and later the American Academy of Sciences and Arts. Eugen Pusić keeps his activities from 1941 to 1945 pretty quiet in his CV.

And now you're telling me we shouldn't talk about the uncles, fathers, or grandfathers.
I'm pretty sure the son and daughter of a JAZU member definitely have some catching up to do regarding the privileges they enjoyed. Only the naive would believe that having a pedigree like that doesn't make them favorites of the system they claim to support today.

So, we can't talk about people and their political moves while ignoring their heritage, especially if that heritage shaped and fueled their entire political stance.

A debate without that is basically pointless. Sure, as a moderator, you can steer it how you want, just like you steer all the discussions about the Pusics and Josipović, but the issue is you're trying to hide parts of their biographies.
I actually got banned for three days recently just for bringing this up.

A forum should be for discussion, not just looking at one tiny slice of what someone does. That's what the people we're talking about do—they hide or gloss over the messy parts of their own lives.
Maybe they're just happy that even here, they have moderators acting as editors for their life stories.

Erasing info about Jovica being Josipović's advisor, erasing info about Josipović's father running Alcatraz for two terms, or hiding the Pusic family history... it's just plain censorship. There's nothing noble about "cleaning up" the forum; the only goal is to make these people look better.
The fact that they have to rely on censorship whenever they're mentioned says a lot about them—and about the forum's moderation policy.

Fine, go ahead and delete it. Who am I to tell you how to run things? But don't sell me this big idea about everyone being equal in a debate, because that's just a line you don't even believe yourselves.
