Greetings, everyone. πŸ˜‰ I find myself facing a rather vexing dilemma regarding my monitor, and I would be immensely grateful if anyone here could offer some insight into what might be going wrong... πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

The other day, I powered up my tower, and everything seemed to be functioning perfectly fine; I could hear the system booting into macOS and reaching the desktop, yet when I went to turn on the monitor, the power button began flashing a strange green and orange hue instead of staying solid, leaving me with absolutely no image on the screen. The computer itself appeared to be running normally, with all the usual sounds, but there was simply nothing to see, just that blinking light on the monitor... 🀷 Then, come this morning, the blinking has ceased entirely, and now there is just a complete absence of any signal or picture whatsoever.
A friend of mine suggested that the culprit could be one of several different components, so he offered to bring over his own monitor to test the setup. He arrived this evening, we hooked his monitor up to my tower, and the result was identicalβ€”no image at all, and the power button didn't even blink this time... At that point, we suspected the VGA cable connecting the monitor to the PC might be the issue, so I headed down to Best Buy to pick up a brand-new one, but after swapping it out... still nothing. 😒 So, the cable is clearly functional, and since my friend's monitor won't work on my rig even though it works perfectly on his, it seems we have ruled out the display itself... We thought it was the cable, but a new one changed nothing... which leaves me wondering, is it now a certainty that my graphics card has finally given up the ghost? Or is there something else lurking within the machine that could cause this? If it isn't the cable or the monitor, then what on earth is left to fail... is it the GPU? What else could it possibly be... THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE! πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

Just borrow a GPU from a buddyβ€”if that thing actually works, then you’ve officially found your culprit.
