Monitor keeps turning off by itself

Hey everyone 😁

I’ve been dealing with this absolute headache with my monitor for a few days now. It just decides to die on me out of nowhere.
It’s not even like it goes into standby where I can just hit a button to wake it up; the thing completely blacks out. My only fix is to yank the power cord, wait about ten seconds, and plug it back in. Then it’ll stay alive for maybe a few minutes or an hour before it pulls the same stunt and shuts down again.

The monitor is a Dell UltraSharp

From what I can tell, that monitor is ancient—honestly, it’s probably ready for retirement at this point. 😁 Just to be safe, though, grab a spare monitor from a buddy and give it a shot. If the screen stays steady, then you know that old monitor is just junk. But if it keeps cutting out even with a different screen, then you're likely looking at an issue with your graphics card.

That’s exactly how monitors and graphics cards act when an electrolyte fails. You should definitely try plugging in a different monitor—just to rule out the GPU entirely. If the screen stays on then, you might want to have someone take a look at your current monitor... there could be a cheap fix in there somewhere.
