Mouse settings in CATIA

So, I’ve run into a bit of a headache here.

I'm currently working in CATIA V5 R16—trying to model out my house in 3D using actual measurements and all that—but for some reason, my mouse zoom and pan functions aren't behaving... I distinctly remember having these mapped perfectly back when I was using R13, but now I'm stuck manually clicking through various options just to rotate, zoom, or pan the model. It used to be seamless with the mouse, which made the whole process significantly faster...

I have combed through every setting and configuration available, but I can't find where this adjustment is hidden.

If anyone happens to be knowledgeable enough to walk me through this, I would truly appreciate the help... 🙂

I ran into a similar headache after picking up a new mouse; it turns out I had to fix the configuration within the mouse's own software settings rather than looking inside the program itself!

Don't give me that nonsense about there not being a single soul here who actually knows their way around CATIA... I need to get this configured immediately, and frankly, I'm struggling to make any real progress with the drafting...

This should be straightforward and work right out of the box:
I'm not sure if you've tested this specific method, but on my end, CATIA V5 R16 behaves consistently across every workstation I've used...
If your mouse has a scroll wheel, just hold down the middle click along with the left mouse button to rotate the part in 3D space. If you hold the middle click plus the right mouse button and move the mouse up or down, you'll get your zoom in and out...

That’s the gist of it. Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you...

I posted an answer last night, but God knows where it vanished to—everything seems to be going haywire lately.
Anyway, I ran into that exact same headache with my MX 400, and I managed to sort it out by diving into the mouse settings; don't bother looking in the Control Panel, but rather go straight into the Logitech software, and try setting the wheel to GENERIC BUTTON—that was the magic fix for me. So, there you have it... give it a shot, and if it doesn't work, well, if you've already tried that, then damn it, I'm honestly at a loss as to what else could be happening. ☕

That’s exactly it—I understand the logic behind it perfectly, but for some reason, it simply isn't working on my setup. It's clearly an issue with the mouse, or perhaps some misconfigured setting within CATIA itself, or maybe even the hardware driver...

Even though I am fully aware that CATIA is supposed to be configured this way by default...

That is exactly what I am getting at... honestly, a little bit of alcohol might actually be a necessity for a job like this, especially since my schedule forces me to pull shifts on Sundays too; just imagine the sheer catastrophe of trying to navigate CATIA while you're feeling completely tipsy. 😁 I honestly don't know how we manage... it requires such an immense amount of concentration to get through the day, yet I find myself utterly craving this kind of mental reset just to stay afloat. That is precisely why I wanted to say—thank you so much for the drink, it was truly a pleasure. Cheers. 👍

Unknown... I truly hope I don't disappoint you, but the reality is that I'm not officially employed anywhere just yet. There are so many moving parts involved... I am essentially focusing entirely on myself, attempting to refine my skills every single day, though I am currently collaborating with an older gentleman from this forum—we're working on a project together, meeting up here and there, and he even hooked me up with some new Hardware recently. Since I'm still quite young, I have the luxury of time, and time is my most vital resource for mastering this craft, because let's be clear: this isn't some trivial game; it's far more significant than that. I've already completed courses in AutoCAD and 3D Design, and now it's mostly about self-directed study through various TUTs and, of course, utilizing this forum, Google, and the rest to get by.
One day, if a traditional job doesn't pan out, I intend to open my own studio... the possibilities are certainly there. At any rate, I am dead serious about this, and it is exactly what I want to do for a living.
