Moving specific posts to a new thread

I’ve been noticing a recurring pattern across various sub-forums where moderators tend to brandish their authority like a weapon whenever a discussion begins to veer slightly away from the original prompt.

Unless we are dealing with blatant spam or some tedious chatter, I fail to see the logic in shutting down a conversation. If a tangent shows potential for becoming its own meaningful discussion, why not nourish it with an insightful post and eventually spin it off into a dedicated thread?

Look, our moderation policy basically says that if an off-topic comment actually brings something interesting or meaningful to the table, we’ll just move it over to its own dedicated thread. But, just like you pointed out, >, not every single off-topic remark is worth saving like that. I can't really dive into more specifics with you without having a concrete example to look at.
