My CD-ROM isn't working!!!!

My CD-ROM seems to be acting up—or rather, failing entirely. When I try using the SATA cable from my old desktop, there’s absolutely no power reaching the drive, even though the power supply is definitely switched on. I don't have a spare SATA cable on hand to test things out.

Hey, could you maybe walk me through exactly how this isn't working? I honestly can't wrap my head around what you just typed there... seriously, give it another read and tell me if that actually makes any sense to you at all?

Wait, were there even any CD-ROM drives that used SATA connectors?

Not even for this specific situation, I'm just asking if anyone’s actually laid eyes on a CD-ROM drive lately, because I've gone completely senile and can't remember if they even still exist...
