Hey there

I went into the Control Panel and deleted some program called "startback." Now my Start icon has completely vanished from the bottom left corner. I tried to trigger a system restore, but I can't even get into the restore menu because the Start icon is gone. Does anyone know how to get that icon back or how to run a restore on Windows 8?

Thanks in advance

Update: I managed to pull off a system restore and the Start icon is back! Only problem is, half my screen is flickering like crazy on the left side. Any idea how to fix that?

Windows 8 doesn't actually include a Start icon by default. You just have to click the bottom left corner and the Start menu will pop up...

Grab this "Classic Start" tool. It’s like having the old Windows 7 menu back. 🙂

Just added some more thoughts here... what do you guys think we should do now?

And then there’s the flickering... maybe it's a loose cable, messed up drivers, or just Windows acting up...
