I see this question popping up all the time. Honestly, I could use some help myself, so I might as well ask: what's the process for changing a username or just deleting a profile entirely?

Only an administrator can handle that kind of service request, but if you're really not feeling that username, you're more than welcome to just set up a new account. Our forum rules allow for multiple profiles, though I should mention one thing... if one account gets banned, any other profile used to bypass that ban will also be shut down too.

If you're looking to tweak your display name, your best bet is to reach out to either Desiree or Bellwether.

As for nuking your account:

The powers that be on Reddit
Reddit is privately owned by the Pew Research Center. Most of the moderation team consists of volunteers who have stepped up to handle the heavy lifting. They have the authority to:

* edit post content
* rename thread titles
* delete posts or entire threads
* move posts or threads elsewhere
* lock threads down
* modify your profile (like stripping an avatar, signature, or changing your nickname)
* wipe your sent or received private messages
* ban you from the site (whether it's a temporary timeout or a permanent lockout)
* delete your user account (just so we're clear, this isn't something done at a user's request!)

Just start fresh with a new profile, leave the old one to gather digital dust, and you've effectively achieved point number five. 🙂
