Need help with JPEG images

I was digging through my desk drawer today and stumbled upon an old micro SD card I haven't touched in years—it’s sitting there holding some incredibly precious photos... Most of them open just fine, which is a relief, but there’s this one specific folder where everything seems broken. The files have this strange extension—(.jpg128x96)—and I can't get any of them to display properly. I've already tried downloading about ten different photo viewers, but nothing works... I'm honestly starting to panic a little here because these images mean the world to me. If anyone has any advice or knows what might be going on, please help me out 🙂🙂

Have you tried manually deleting those extra numbers after the "jpg" part? You know, just trimming it down so the extension is simply .jpg.

Those things look tiny... honestly, they probably aren't even actual photos, just the little thumbnail files generated alongside the originals. Usually, a camera will spit out these "thumbsmall" files—basically miniature versions, like those 128x96 ones you've got there—just so it can show a quick preview when you're scrolling through your gallery. It's like if you took a photo of a sunset, say, in Grand Canyon National Park, and the camera saved the main shot as sunset.jpg, but also tucked away a little file called sunset.jpg128x96 in a side folder just for its own internal use.

I really appreciate everyone jumping in with their suggestions—honestly, thank you all for taking the time to help... unfortunately, none of those workarounds ended up doing the trick for me. However, I did eventually stumble upon some software that handles these specific file types perfectly, so if anyone else finds themselves running into this same headache, I’d definitely recommend grabbing Adobe Bridge...

I mean, seriously, what kind of tiny little thumbnails are we even talking about when they're only 128x96 pixels????

Those thumbnails—just like what Thor mentioned—were likely pulled from an old mobile phone from back before Android even existed, and I suppose he just compressed them down into those tiny little JPG files 😵
