Alright, look, I’ve finally decided to actually get my act together and get in shape. I started hitting the gym, but now I'm wondering if it's actually okay for me to mess with any mass gainer supplements since I'm only 16 and a half. If I can, what are the best ones out there?

Also, what's the deal with doing crunches properly? Right now, I'm doing them with a 5-pound weight on my chest for as many as I can—usually about 30—and then just finishing off the last 20 without the weight. I end up doing 50 reps total across 6 sets.

Honestly, you don't even need to worry about supplements, at least not when you're just getting started. Just focus on eating plenty of whole foods—I'm talking heavy on the steak, cheese, eggs, and all that good stuff.

Come on, jadetiger962, give us some pointers—how does one actually tackle that stubborn lower belly fat?

Since you're just starting out and you're only 16, I really don't think you should be messing with any supplements or dietary additives yet—maybe wait another year or two before even thinking about it...
When it comes to hitting those abs, the best moves are sit-ups on a decline bench (you know, that slanted one), followed by leg raises on a Roman chair... there are plenty of other ways to sculpt your core too, like abdominal contractions, lying leg raises on a flat bench, Russian twists, and more. Since you're joining a gym, definitely go talk to a personal trainer there; they'll be able to give you the best guidance on proper form, breathing techniques, nutrition, and all that good stuff. Just whatever you do, don't quit...

So, come on, give me some advice—how do I get rid of this stubborn belly fat?

What do you mean "show up"? I was just away on vacation for a bit...

As far as I'm concerned, fat is just fat, regardless of where it decides to settle on your body. You really need a heavy dose of cardio combined with a disciplined diet, though I have a feeling you're already pretty well aware of that.
