To whom it may concern,
We are reaching out to ask for your support for a humanitarian initiative launched by three local organizations: the Children's Defense Fund, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the American Red Cross branch in Buje. We are raising funds for the Brajko family to cover medical expenses for their three-year-old daughter, Gloria.
Little Gloria faced immense challenges from the moment she was born. She bravely underwent a major surgery shortly after birth, but unfortunately, it didn't provide the relief needed. Following treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Washington, D.C. and Cleveland, her health has continued to decline.
Doctors have stressed that immediate, critical intervention is necessary to prevent life-threatening complications. Gloria’s parents—Sylvia, who is currently unemployed, and Franko, who works for the Department of Transportation—are struggling deeply with her illness. They are facing an overwhelming psychological and financial crisis because Medicare has not yet approved her specialized treatment in Padua. With very limited income, the Brajko family cannot keep up with medication costs, hospital bills, and especially the massive expense of her upcoming surgery.
Thanks to a charity concert recently organized by our three organizations in Buje, the Brajko family managed to cover some of last year's costs. However, following her most recent medical evaluations in Padua from March 14th to the 21st, a definitive diagnosis has been reached:
Alagille syndrome. Doctors informed the parents that this is an extremely rare and aggressive condition that requires a liver transplant to resolve. During this consultation, they also had to break the news that "Gloria's health has deteriorated."
The medical team immediately recommended placing Gloria on the transplant waiting list. However, since Medicare has yet to authorize her travel abroad for this specific treatment, the situation for the Brajko family is becoming desperate.
As organizations, we have done everything within our power by launching this fundraiser. We humbly ask you to join us in this effort through any donation you can manage. Let's try to help little Gloria within the limits of our means before it is too late. If you choose to support this cause, please let us know.

We have only raised about $3,000 so far, but we still need approximately $30,000, as the total cost for the surgery is roughly $27,000.
