Need some serious help here

Seriously, why isn't there some kind of master rulebook here? Like, a full breakdown of how all the functions work, what all these random symbols actually mean, stuff like that. Just a solid guide for absolute newbies so they don't get bullied by the self-proclaimed geniuses who think they're too good to help anyone else. Honestly, no question is stupid if someone actually wants to learn something.

The first stickied thread covers most of the basics.

Any other questions have probably been addressed already; with a few clicks, you can find the solution to your specific issue... Why isn't everything just handed to you on a silver platter? Because you need to learn the fundamental etiquette of an online community. You should be searching to see if someone else has faced a similar issue—especially with technical stuff—instead of starting a new thread for every little thing. ... Furthermore, most people are simply too lazy to figure out how things work on their own. How are you going to make it in the real world? 😳

Here’s a simple tip: if you aren't sure how a user achieved a certain look or effect in their post, just quote them and observe the logic behind it. It doesn't take a genius.

One more important thing... there is always a preview post option right next to post reply that shows you exactly how your message will look before you commit... so, there is absolutely no reason to hit send just to check the formatting...

It really shouldn't be that hard to click through the icons and figure out how the interface works. 😛

Isn't it just way easier if we had some kind of permanent FAQ or guide posted on the forum? Like, what do people even mean when they throw around the word "lazy"? It shouldn't take someone hours to hunt down basic info. When you buy a standard fridge from Home Depot, it comes with a manual right there in the box—even if people have been using the same damn refrigerators for forty years without ever glancing at them.

Plus, this topic is huge on the Help! subforum (which is where we are, in case you haven't noticed)... and there's this thread where Des went absolutely overboard with all the tips and tricks she wrote down. If you really need more than that, maybe just accept that some posts might be a little more "basic" than others? 😉

Like others have already mentioned, there’s plenty of info out there.

We have this subforum, my own thread, and plenty of users who jump in to help whenever someone runs into trouble (though I'll admit, some people just won't).
