What happens when you mash up the Hobbit and Harry Potter? Well, MGM hit on a brilliant idea to film a parody of both cinematic giants, titled 'Henry Bates and the Wizard's Eggs.' Let’s dive into 'Middlefinger'...
MGM's studio set aside some cash to pick up a script designed to poke fun at both 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Harry Potter.'
The screenplay was penned by David Margasen, James R. Stein, and Timothy Stack—a writer who previously teamed up with Howard Stern for his series 'son of The beach.'
In this parody, the good wizard goes by Gandolfini, and he's battling the villainous Enron, who is hunting down Henry Bates, the rightful king of a land called Middlefinger.
Much like a young wizard with a glowing scar on his forehead, a young Bates attends a school for boy pederasts along with one girl. Just like Frodo, Bates sets out on an epic quest to save his kingdom, 'Middlefinger.'
Along the way, he encounters wizards, warriors, and a nation of people known as the Bobbits, who are cursed with sexual enchantment. The Bobbits actually take their name from Lorena Bobbit, the woman infamous for cutting off her husband's anatomy.
Given all the 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Harry Potter' sagas we've seen over the last few years, making a parody like this was really just a matter of time.
According to Margasen (who dubbed the movie 'Gigli Reloaded'), the writers wanted to mimic both fantasy worlds in a totally ruthless and unapologetic way. Still, they intended to pay homage to Potter's and Frodo's fans simply by using both stories as the foundation for the film. The creators are crossing their fingers for good reviews.
There hasn't been any word yet on the casting, but MGM, which snatched up the script last week, has already assembled the writing team to polish the script while 'Harry Potter' and 'Lord of the Rings' are still fresh in everyone's minds. 'The Return of the King,' the final installment of 'Lord of the Rings' directed by Peter Jackson, is expected in theaters soon.
MGM hasn't announced filming dates for 'Henry Bates and the Wizard's Eggs' yet, but they're hoping to get moving early next year.
I seriously can't wait to see them film this; I hope I end up laughing my head off!!
