Hey!

I need a new Seagate—at least 500GB or 1TB. Looking for the absolute cheapest option out there since my budget is pretty tight right now.

Second thing—I need a new Dell, at least 21.5''. Budget is around $800 or $300 maybe a bit more. I spotted this one: It’s a decent price, but if there’s something for $300 that’s way better quality, I’d definitely grab that instead.

Thanks in advance for the help. 🙂

Maybe think about just grabbing a Seagate instead. You can snag a 1TB for basically nothing extra, which doubles your space... and since everything's huge these days, it's probably worth it.

As for the Dell, I’d probably skip it since it only has a VGA port. Just find the cheapest one you can with a DVI port and a decent warranty, and you're pretty much set.

Yeah, it would be awesome if you could snag OVAJ HP, since it’s got an IPS panel. 😬 Otherwise, like they said, just make sure it has a DVI port and a solid warranty—that's really all that matters. This HP is definitely the best bang for your buck. 😉

Sorry, but what's even the difference between IPS and LCD?

You've got it a bit mixed up here 🙂

An LCD is an LCD—it’s just a thin Dell with an IPS panel, right? This means you get the same viewing angles from the sides as you would if you were sitting right in front of it—looking straight at the center

An LCD is an LCD. Since it’s a thin HP panel with an IPS matrix, you get the same viewing angles. That means from the left or the right, the image should look pretty much the same as when you're looking straight at a standard Dell screen.

Yeah, and specifically, this HP model gives you exactly that. Honestly, I’d even say the picture quality is better—the contrast and brightness feel more natural than your typical screens. If you can swing it, it’s definitely worth stretching those extra $10 to get it.😉

There's also that Samsung option for $343. It's a solid Dell too.

As for the storage; you can snag a 1TB Seagate for about $140.

So this is what you mean:
The one I'm rocking right now: http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/...ncmaster-e2220

I’m looking for something in that same ballpark—not sure if they’re actually built the same. My Apple one lasted me three years before the colors started bleeding out.

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. Just check out nytimes.com; the price is identical, but you're definitely getting better service there if you're planning on picking it up. If you decide against that one, then just stick to what we suggested—anything with a longer warranty and at least a DVI output.

Alright, I settled on this Seagate:
Is this gonna run fine on this motherboard: http://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/m3a770de/?

Also—I see they have Caviar Blue and Caviar Green. Is there actually any real difference besides the names? 😁

Blue seems to have more speed.
