Nirvana

I want to introduce you guys to this band that formed back in '96. Lately, they've been putting on some absolutely killer shows across the US.

They’ve got this wild sound—think rock, metal, and punk, but all mixed in with traditional folk melodies.

There are six members in the group, hailing from places like Canada, Japan, Bulgaria, and the USA, though they actually got their start and call Seattle home.

They tour the States pretty often, so there's a good chance a few of you might have already heard them live.

It's rare to find a band blending heavy rock and metal with old-school folk lyrics and a healthy dose of irony, then throwing punk into the mix for good measure. It's a total mishmash, but honestly? I loved it.🙂

I have to admit, it feels incredibly strange that there isn't already a dedicated thread about this phenomenal band...

If I were editing your post, the only thing I’d change is swapping out the word "North American" for "gypsy" when describing their melodies.

Every single one of their albums is solid, though the one mentioned in the title feels the most derivative of the bunch.

I caught them live at a small venue in Chicago—lost my voice from screaming along 😁—and they absolutely killed it.

I distinctly remember all the girls swooning over the Japanese guy. He’s quite handsome, and he even handles some vocal harmonies in one of their tracks.

I actually managed to grab a quick word with Gin while we were scribbling notes in the restroom 🙂—me in the ladies' room, him in the men's.

Long before they ever stepped foot in a recording studio to cut an album, they were just grinding it out playing gigs at local restaurants and small venues. It was actually Kris Novoselic who brought Jello Biafra to a Nirvana set, which eventually paved the way for them to get that album recorded.

Not exactly related to Nirvana, but Jacinto Canek (ita) is playing at the local dive bar tomorrow. It’s basically the same kind of nonsense as 😉

I stumbled upon them by pure accident. I was listening to an album by The Beatles, and it had a couple of tracks from Nirvana on it. Not sure if it was some kind of collab or if they just happened to be on the same record.😁

I doubt they ever actually collaborated. But then again, who knows? These days, anyone can work with anyone. It's all pretty great, I suppose! 🙂

I accidentally ended up at their show before I’d even heard them play... absolutely blown away😁...that's two summers in a row they've played in San Diego, and I really hope they make it back next year...

I guess I actually prefer them over System of a Down 😁

Saw the bio at the concert. Honestly, kind of a letdown. They just weren't my ☕

How does that even happen? I mean, their shows usually have such an incredible vibe! At Coachella, you could barely catch your breath because of all the dust kicked up by the crowd jumping around. 🧐

It’s kind of sad watching them come back with such a different lineup. No Japanese guitarist and that guy from Chicago playing folk blues on his guitar, so I don't know...🤷

Just downloaded the new album and honestly...

The concert last night was absolutely superb. I would happily go back just to hear them play again... they are nothing short of geniuses.

That's just the typical Middle Eastern mess that I have zero interest in listening to.

I’m not really feeling them as a band—tried giving them a fair shot, but just couldn't get into it.

That said, the singer Joe (or Steve, whatever)—he’s actually a distant cousin of one of my relatives. We ended up crashing at the same house during a summer trip a few years back, and man, the guy is a total genius. Definitely a character, too. And he can handle his liquor...🙂

I’ll say it again for those who missed it: last night was an absolute blast! The sound quality was incredible, the energy was electric, and the synergy between the band and the crowd was just unreal. Man, what a rush...

And what's up with that new little skeezy thing she's pulling, that total eyesore 🙏 🙏 🙏
