Has anyone had a chance to take a look at this yet? And more importantly, what are your thoughts on it?

Wait, 23?

edit.

In the meantime, I actually went ahead and did some digging so I can give you a real answer. To be honest—I don't really watch any Jim Carrey movies. 😳

I caught a screening at the local cinema yesterday
It was an absolutely stellar film—and honestly, Jim Carrey was nothing short of brilliant. It’s one of those rare cinematic experiences you simply shouldn't miss. Definitely worth your time...

I mean, I'm pretty sure there's already a thread for this, but honestly, I just can't be bothered to go hunting for it right now (though, yeah, I know, that’s basically what being a moderator is all about, I guess). 😁
I actually caught the movie maybe two or three weeks ago, and if I'm being totally honest, it wasn't really my thing. I don't know, I think I was just expecting something a bit more substantial given how much hype there was surrounding the premise.
As far as Jim's performance goes... 🙄 👎

I ended up catching this on a whim, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
It felt a little strange seeing Jim in a role we aren't used to seeing him play at first, but I settled into it quickly.

Two thumbs up for the movie.

It looks decent enough. I haven't sat down to watch it yet, but honestly, seeing Jim Carrey in a serious role is still a bit of a hard pill to swallow for me. That said, I’d love to be proven wrong. We'll see how it goes.

I watched it, and honestly, I thought it hit all the right notes 👍. It’s nothing groundbreaking, I guess, but it was definitely intense enough to keep me hooked. Jim was just incredible, personally. During that first scene, I was kind of like, "Oh, okay, here comes Jim Carrey," but after that, I totally forgot he was even there because his performance was so convincing (though my friend couldn't get into it at all since she just kept thinking, "That's Jim Carrey," you know? To her, he's just the guy from those goofy comedies)

Don't you think those last 20 minutes of exposition felt totally unnecessary? I mean, by that point, even the kids sitting in the front row of a different movie would have already figured out the plot. It felt pretty redundant to me.
As for the lead, Jim Carrey was absolutely fantastic in this role.

Has anyone actually sat down to watch this yet? (I haven't had the chance quite yet—my schedule has been a bit of a whirlwind lately!) Any thoughts or initial impressions out there?

Thanks!🙂

I watched it.

Polimac nailed it—"not a great movie, but visually stunning." I'm right there with them on that one.

Same here.

I didn't go in with super high hopes, so honestly, it totally lived up to what I was expecting. 😁

Hm, I missed it in theaters, but I'm waiting for the DVD release.

Aren't you all just used to seeing Carey in roles like this by now? Haven't you seen the Truman show or The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? If you ask me, those are Carey's best films...

A complete disaster of a movie. Honestly, it’s totally forgettable and just lacks any sense of credibility.

silverpanther13 said:A desperate attempt at cinema. Completely unwatchable and totally lacks credibility.

I second that. I couldn't have put it better myself.

Yet another one who just can't wrap their head around Carrey in a serious role...
