So, I'm having this issue with my integrated graphics—the one built into the processor, not the motherboard...

When I boot up, if I don't touch anything, it seems fine. But the second I move the mouse, the screen goes black and there's this solid red line stuck on the left side.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:

Swapping out the monitor
Trying a different VGA cable
Installing various drivers (NVIDIA ones, macOS updates, stuff from the motherboard manufacturer's website)
Using a DVI cable instead

MAYBE THIS WORKS:

Connecting the PC to the monitor via an HDMI cable.

I might try to borrow an HDMI cable from someone... but I probably won't be able to do that for another two months when I'm back home.
If anyone has any fixes, please let me know so I can test them once I get back. (I might even pop home for a few days later this week, maybe.)

Which motherboard are you using? It’s always best to install the official drivers directly from the manufacturer. They know their own hardware layout and chipset configurations better than anyone else.
It looks to me like a missing driver. It doesn't necessarily have to be the VGA driver; check the chipset too.
Is the power supply sufficient? Even if this system isn't a power hog, the voltages need to be stable. Can you verify the 12V rail in the BIOS?
Is your CPU cooler performing adequately? Is it choked with dust or simply underpowered for your CPU?

I mean, it feels like a missing driver to me. It might not just be the VGA issue; could be the chipset or something else...
Is the power supply strong enough? I guess even if a system like this doesn't pull much power, the voltages still need to be solid. Can you check the 12V rail in the BIOS?
Is your CPU cooler doing its job? Maybe it's just choked with dust or maybe it's too weak for your CPU?

Everything was bought brand new, all drivers are in, and I'm running the latest macOS..
The motherboard is an ASUS H67M
And cooling seems fine; temps stay around 35-42 C while I'm using it.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, the PSU is 550W—not exactly sure which brand, but it has
the 20+4 pin and a 4 pin connector, but the board needs 8... is that going to be a problem?

If it was bought brand new and is still under warranty, why isn't it at the repair shop being swapped out?

So... anyway...
I didn't just buy some pre-built rig. I picked out all the parts myself and put the whole thing together from scratch...
I can't believe I actually messed something up. I mean, I literally just finished putting this whole beast together.

I mean, you should be able to swap out the graphics card—and the components themselves come with their own warranties, right? 🤷

Come on, Michelle Alvarez8, don't be ridiculous: the graphics are built right into the processor. What, you think you can just slice off a piece of the CPU with a dull kitchen knife?

Parts definitely have warranties, but if a pro built the rig, they'll always try to claim the user messed up during assembly. It could be anything, really. Like, what if the factory pins on the socket were bent from the start? That's almost impossible to prove after the fact...

I don't know, man. I built my own rig and they swapped out my defective motherboard for a brand new one without any hassle. Nobody even brought up user error or claims I messed something up... 🤷

So what, he’ll just take the processor in for repairs? I really don't get why you're making this such a big deal. 🤷

They're gonna end up bringing everything in for repair because clearly, they can't figure out what's actually broken—that's why they're poking around on a forum in the first place.
If they start dragging every single component to the shop one by one (which really depends on how the shop operates), they're just gonna fall into a massive money pit of diagnostic fees. For example, Best Buy might take the CPU, run some tests, and then charge them, say, $17 just to tell them it works perfectly fine. Then they'll head over with the motherboard... Between the service fees and all that wasted time driving back and forth...
