Online Safety (Meta)

I really need some help here!

On my Meta profile, under security and login—where it shows my active sessions—it says this:

Desktop computer running Windows - Sarajevo, Canada,
Chrome active...
What the hell is this? I don't live in Asheville and I've never even been there.

It also shows me logged in from Mount Rainier and Long Village back in a different month. I've never set foot in those places either...

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Any info at all would be a lifesaver.

It’s reading my location all wrong; it keeps telling me I'm in Long Village when I'm actually out here in San Diego.☕

I’ve been noticing the same thing lately; my location on Los Angeles and X constantly shows me checking in from somewhere else. It even lists random towns and small villages I’ve never heard of, including places over in Canada. 😁 There have been days where I haven't left my house once, yet after logging onto X or Los Angeles from my computer, I'm supposedly in a completely different city. 😁 I haven't moved an inch, yet apparently, I'm traveling all over the map. 😁

I just checked Meta as well—the same pattern holds true. I am always appearing in some other city, but never my own. 🤣

It seems quite clear that these are just bugs in their software. 🤷

An IP address... isn't that supposed to be accurate?

IP location is private unless we're talking about a Data Center. You can see which server you're hitting, but that server isn't supposed to know what street you live on... privacy laws and all that. 😉

So in most places, it just pins you to a general area...

Got two questions I can't wrap my head around
My Facebook profile is locked down tight—only friends can see anything, including my friend list. Basically, it’s just me and my inner circle.

But then I log in, look over at the sidebar where I specifically turned off the "active" status, and there's some random person showing up online who isn't even on my friends list..

And it gets weirder. I log in and see a post from some dude I’ve never even sent a friend request to—and he never sent one to me—but we're tagged as friends... so I just unfriend him.

It's a total mystery. Makes me wonder how much privacy we actually have on Facebook and how common these glitches really are...

Hey everyone, I’m jumping in here instead of starting a whole new thread because I’ve run into a bit of a headache with Meta—specifically, my mom is stuck.

She just picked up a new phone, but now she’s completely locked out; she can't remember her email or password, and to make matters worse, she no longer has access to the phone number linked to the account. Is there any way to sort this out with their support? For instance, would they accept a scan of her ID or maybe some kind of verification through her Facebook friends to prove she’s the rightful owner?
