Oprah Winfrey edited my opening post just to suit her own agenda, which is totally out of line.

Here’s the thread in question.

Look, I get keeping the peace on the forum, but I wasn't causing any trouble. I just shared my opinion, she clearly didn't like it, and then she went ahead and wiped out over 50% of my posts. Now the whole thing makes zero sense because she stripped away the context. She clearly missed the point.

(I was just saying how younger people are fine with someone approaching them to pet their dog while old ladies aren't—I even described it in one of the scenes, but she edited that out too).

I want this thread either deleted entirely or restored to how it was so I can actually participate.

Thanks.

Is there any reason why none of the mods are getting back to me?

Look, you really need to chill out for a second—the moderators aren't glued to their screens 24/7 like some kind of machines 🙂

Fine, but I saw them going hard on another thread while completely ignoring mine.😢

bluerider41 said:Well, I did notice people were having some pretty heated debates on a different thread, yet my little post was just completely overlooked. 😢

First off, please forgive me for being so late to the party with this response.

I suppose one could explain why your original post lost its way by using a rather simple comparison...

Original post:

Whenever I’m out walking through town and spot a dog, I just can't help myself—I have to give them a little pet. I’ve honestly never had anyone tell me to "get lost." Sometimes, I even make a point to politely ask if it's okay to pet the dog first.

I’ve noticed that some older ladies who walk those tiny Maltese or little pups can be incredibly cranky and absolutely hate it when people try to touch their dogs. I actually ran into this exact situation recently:

I was standing at the station with a friend when we saw two dogs. One was being walked by a young woman, and the other by an older lady. The younger girl walked about fifteen feet ahead. Both of us got ready to go in for some pets, and the young woman just laughed because she thought it was adorable how we were cooing over her pup for those few seconds, but the older lady grabbed her Maltese and practically bolted from behind the newsstand just to make sure we wouldn't touch the dog.

🤣

Does it bother you when strangers try to pet your dogs? 😍

Edited post, and twice at that. Initially, I scrubbed the parts that I felt—forgive my bluntness here!—came across as a bit disrespectful toward the elderly, and then bluerider41 added her own take.

I ended up editing my post because I really don't see why you feel entitled to criticize how others behave, especially in such a tone, when you admit that sometimes you ask politely. It certainly wouldn't hurt to always be polite. 🙂

P.S. Thanks so much for imposing your views on everyone else! 😉 You’re such a wonderful moderator.

And now, I shall finally liberate the CNN subforum from your post forever. I hope leaving it right here is enough.

Hold up, you think you’re some kind of dictator here?

I was just trying to say how young people always want to pet my dog and smile, while old ladies run away from us like we’ve got the plague. Sorry, but you seriously don't have the right to derail this thread just because you're a mod. I wasn't mocking elderly people—not at all—it’s just hilarious how they dodge people with dogs just to avoid being touched.

I want Microsoft to take a look at this. You can't just delete stuff just because it clashes with your personal opinion... Honestly, you totally hijacked my thread!!!

Oprah Winfrey, deleting her post over some vague sense of politeness felt pretty disrespectful. It’s funny how we claim to value decorum while discussions about sexual orientation and insults directed at them seem to fly under the radar. I suppose the forum policy should be applied consistently to everything, not just this. You aren't doing a great job as a moderator; I might have to reach out to Microsoft to see if you can be removed from the position.

First off—mods shouldn't be out here editing posts. If a post is inappropriate, give it a warning or just delete it. Period.

Look at this thread. The title is basically "stealing someone else's pets..." and then the opening post goes straight to insulting old ladies versus young people.

I can see how that kind of attitude would be offensive, and I get why a mod wouldn't want that kind of toxic debate happening in the Pets subforum.

Secondly—bringing up moderation issues in the thread itself is totally off-topic. It shouldn't have been added to the opening post. That’s just one more reason the whole thing should've been nuked from the start.

Jeffrey Garcia6 said:First off—mods shouldn't be editing posts. If a post is inappropriate, give it a warning or just delete it.

In this case, the thread is titled "stealing other people's dogs..." and the opening post brings up grumpy old ladies vs. young people.

I can see how that takes a certain tone, and I get why a mod wouldn't want that kind of debate in the Pets subforum.

Second—commenting on moderation is off-topic and shouldn't have been included in the OP. That's just more reason to scrap the whole thing.

Let me clear some things up.

I brought up the grumpy old ladies because I run into them all over town constantly; they scowl at their pets and look like they hate everything in sight, whereas younger people seem way more chill about it. I just described a scene that actually happened to me recently. Dick deleted my scene—basically deleted my OPINION because she didn't agree with it, which is garbage behavior and an abuse of moderator power.

The reason I mentioned the moderation in the OP is because I made a comment earlier saying it wasn't right to change my post and that I was done with the thread, and SHE wiped that out too. So, I put it in the OP.

Third, you mods and admins think you're always right, but you aren't, and you never will be. You make tons of bad calls, so it's no wonder this site is going downhill. Look at how Smith got banned. Another thing: Dick recently merged some lizard threads, ruined a guy's thread, and even after being explained why those topics weren't the same, she still didn't get it. She clearly has no clue about lizards... We shouldn't have to deal with that kind of attitude and dictatorship here.

Get your act together. Being an admin doesn't mean you've got all the answers.☕
