Hi everyone,
I'm running into an issue with my laptop, a
Dell Latitude Windows 7
where the DVD-ROM isn't being detected at all. It doesn't show up in the BIOS, Device Manager, or even in my Computer.
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you're decent with a screwdriver, you might want to try opening up the laptop to check the cables running to the CD-ROM.

(don't go tearing the whole laptop apart—just enough to get to the CD-ROM)

I haven't double-checked the cables yet, but when I put a disc in, the drive starts spinning, though nothing actually shows up on the screen. Thanks

Is this just happening with one specific disc, or is it affecting multiple ones?
When you go into my Computer and click on the CD-ROM drive after it spins up—if you double-click it, what kind of error message are you getting?

The issue is that the DVD or CD-ROM drive isn't showing up on my Computer or anywhere else at all, even though I can hear it mechanically spinning and working

it could be that some cable shook loose from all that rattling, or maybe the circuit board just fried on you
check under Device Manager to see if there's even a sign of any CD/DVD drives listed

Thanks,

alright, so now just hop into your BIOS and see if the system even recognizes it there

It doesn't even show up in the BIOS.
I've been doing a bit of digging online, and it looks like the DVD ROM finally kicked the bucket.
Thanks to everyone for the help.

Best,
