I’m reaching my breaking point here and really need some help.
Basically, I was issued a new work computer about two months ago with Windows 10 Pro and Outlook 2016 already installed.
From day one, Outlook has been a complete nightmare. At first, I couldn't even get my Gmail account to register in Outlook, and after an exhausting amount of trial and error, I finally got it recognized—only for the program to start dumping every single piece of mail directly into my Gmail inbox.
So, when I open Outlook and look at my mail options, I see two distinct groups of folders. First, there are the "Outlook data files," which should contain my Inbox, Drafts, Sent items, Deleted Items, Junk, Outbox, RSS feeds, and Search Folders.
Then there's the second group, which consists of my Gmail folders—specifically ".....@gmail.com"—containing the Inbox, Outbox, sent mail, and Search Folders.
The core issue is that Outlook just shoves everything into the Gmail Inbox. All those "Outlook data files" are sitting there completely empty; nothing actually goes into the Outbox, nothing hits the sent folder, and nothing ends up in Drafts. It's like the system is bypassing its own organization entirely.
But the absolute worst part? Replying to emails. If someone sends me a message and I hit reply and send it off, everything seems fine initially. But when I go back to find that conversation later, Outlook only shows me the original incoming message. It might show a little note saying I replied, but the actual response itself is gone. I can't see what I wrote, and I can't see the full thread anymore. It’s like my replies are vanishing into thin air.
Look, I'll be the first to admit I'm no IT expert, but I haven't been idle. I've scoured the internet and tried every setting and configuration tweak I could find, but nothing has worked. It's like trying to fix a leaky faucet by staring at it.
Has anyone else run into this specific headache, or does anyone have a clue how to fix this mess?🙂
I would be incredibly grateful for any ideas you might have.
