Can someone walk me through what this actually is? I swung by my Chase branch yesterday to get mobile banking set up, and we managed to get it all working—shoutout to the teller who helped me out. Since I’ve got the app now, I decided to shut down my old online banking since I don't really need both. While we were at it, she offered me PayPal and gave me some quick rundown on it. I just kept nodding along like I actually understood what was happening, but honestly, between the massive crowd and the general chaos in the branch, I didn't grasp a single word. I just figured "sure, why not" and we installed it. She mentioned I’d get some kind of SMS with setup info within 24 hours to get the app running, but nothing has hit my phone yet. In the meantime, I just jumped into the app using my PIN and it worked perfectly fine. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I messed up. I thought she said there weren't any fees, but given how little I actually processed during that whole interaction, I might have totally misread the situation 🤔.

So, what am I supposed to do with this thing now? 🤷

Honestly—just uninstall it until you actually Google what it does...

It's basically just contactless payments via a sticker.

It was free during the initial promo period, but I think they started charging for it later on... For me, it hasn't really been worth anything yet since my local cashier hasn't even tried to run that 😬

So how does this actually work? Like, if I open up the app right now, punch in my PIN, and walk up to the register, what happens next 🤷

It wouldn't hurt to give them a ring at 1-800-CALL-PAYPAL

But I didn't actually get a physical card 🤔 All I see on my phone screen when I open the app is a digital one. So it's just a virtual card, even though the description here makes it sound like I should be getting a plastic one in the mail 🤷

And then you’ll finally get that little sticker card from your bank in the mail...

A sticker card is its own distinct thing, even if the underlying goal remains the same.

So wait, are there actually three different cards available?
Like a standard Visa, a sticker version, and then a virtual one...

It’s basically just the same card in three different outfits.

Thanks for all the input, everyone, though I’ll be the first to admit I’m still just as lost as I was before. If we're talking about a virtual card, does that mean I just look at my phone to find where this digital thing actually lives after the cashier 🤷

You use the virtual card exactly like you would a sticker card. Just pull up the app, find your card, and tap your phone against the terminal.

Thanks for the input... I guess all that's left is to go see how this thing actually behaves in the wild 🙂

Look, whenever I pull up this app, there isn't a single card in sight—just a total blank screen. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I just need to sit on my hands and wait for it to actually work, or if the whole thing is just broken?

Why’d you cancel her and was the app even working right for you?
I’m telling you, I open the damn thing up and there isn't a single card in sight, just a total blank screen...

I ended up canceling my sticker because most of the shops I hit up have no clue what to do with it at the register. There’s really just this one local spot where they can make it work, but I usually just stick to my Visa debit card there anyway... so I figured it was easier to just ditch the sticker and the app altogether...

Alright, look, tell me if you actually know how to get the card to show up on my phone. Every time I open the app, the screen is just totally blank... nothing at all.

Once you wrap up the paperwork at the branch, you’re usually looking at about a day before that virtual Visa card actually kicks in. For Amex, it might take even longer, if I remember right.
