Honestly, 16GB is overkill for gaming, and it’s probably the easiest thing to upgrade later anyway.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 4GB/256bit, 980MHz/5700MHz, PCI-E 3.0 x16, DP, HD
Fortron Raider S PSU 550W, 80+
Seagate Barracuda 1TB, 64MB, 7200rpm
Intel Core i7-8700K
ASUS ROG Strix Motherboard with Corsair Vengeance RAM
Crucial DDR3 RAM, 1866MHz, 8GB Black HX318C10FB/8
Zalman mid tower case black, ZAL-R1
LC Power CPU Cooler LC-CC-120 - 120mm Intel/AMD

Total: $1686 $920.00 Center

Look 😁 the processor isn't even meant for overclocking anywayβ€”it stays cool and doesn't pull much power. Plus, that motherboard isn't actually all that bad; it fits right within the budget and gets the job done πŸ™‚

If we’re talking strictly about temperatures, I guess Intel (Haswell) runs quite a bit hotter than AMD, though Intel does have a significantly higher tmax. It might be okay, but I’d probably lean toward an ASUS ROG Strix Motherboard with Corsair Vengeance RAM, a B85M-K, or maybe an H81M-HDS R2.0 or B85M-DGS/HDS instead. πŸ˜‰
