So, I'm looking to upgrade my setup because I really need to get serious with some heavy-duty software like Adobe Premiere and Lightroom... and let me tell you, my current rig just isn't cutting it! I definitely need a 64-bit processor and at least 8 GB of RAM—though I guess I could scrape by with 4 GB if I had to—plus all the other standard specs. My desktop is stuck on 32-bit which is a total dead end, and even though my laptop is 64-bit, it basically crawls whenever it tries to handle anything with its measly 2 GB of RAM.
What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? I'm still trying to wrap my head around what's actually out there and what I should be looking for, so my plan is to start saving up for something a bit more beefy. It doesn't necessarily have to be brand new from the store, either... I've been browsing used deals and it looks like I can snag something pretty decent for under $1000, but I guess the big question is how risky is buying used? As far as the hardware goes, I just need the tower itself since I already have a monitor ready to go.
The main goal here is just making sure these programs run smoothly without constant stuttering or crashing once I meet the minimum requirements.
