The budget is roughly $667, though I could stretch it a bit higher.
I need a new motherboard, a CPU, and some RAM.
Ideally, I’d like to pick everything up from Micro Center.
I am specifically looking for an Intel Core i5-4440.
The PC will be used primarily for gaming.

I guess you'd probably save more money doing this kind of upgrade at Best Buy or maybe a local tech hub.

You might be able to shave some cost off $33 if you go with a slightly lower-end motherboard:

It just has fewer connectors and only 2 RAM slots.

Is there really any point in pushing for 1600MHz RAM?

So, I guess this is roughly the best we can do for that kind of budget?

It’s not "roughly" speaking—it just is. 😁
