So, I’ve been poking around and noticed there isn't actually a dedicated subforum for biology here. There are a few sections that touch on similar stuff, but let's be real—they aren't quite hitting the mark... 😢
I am personally obsessed with biology, so it got me wondering if anyone else out there would be down to have a specific "Biology" subforum created? 🙂
Honestly, I think a section like that would absolutely take off and bring some life to the boards... 👍
Thanks
🙏

It’s usually a much smarter move to just kick things off within a relevant sub-forum first, and then, once we actually see enough people biting and showing some real interest, we can look into spinning up a dedicated sub-forum of our own

I honestly feel like the world around me is the go-to spot if you're looking for any kind of deep dive into biology 🙂

Yeah, not really...
That whole sub isn't even remotely about biology... 🤷

Why not? You’ve already got the Son forum, plus you have natural science covered... I just don't see how one or two biology topics popping up once a year really warrants its own dedicated subforum.

Alright, fine, whatever you say...
I'll start a new thread, but honestly, I'm totally lost on where to put it...?! 🤷
The "world around me" section seems like the closest fit, but I don't know, man... I feel like everyone over there is talking about something else entirely... 🤷

Man, it's pretty obvious you don't really care about (or maybe you just don't know anything about) biology... (no offense 🙄)
But trust me, it's not like there are only, what, one or two biology topics floating around here... 🙄

I mean, I don't think there are only like one or two topics in all of biology... 🙄
☕

Well, go ahead then. Find me like ten of them so I can see this "vast landscape" of biological topics on this ancient forum 🙂

I think we’re totally missing each other here... 🤔
Where on earth am I supposed to track down all those "biology topics" anyway?!
Is this happening on this forum or what?
...

Ugh, seriously...
Why on earth would I go digging through old threads?! 🤔
I'd much rather just whip up some fresh threads about biology—stuff that's actually interesting and teaches you something useful...
In my book, biology is just as massive as history (if not way more important)!
And just in case you were oblivious, believe it or not, there are actually people out there who give a damn about biology... 😉

It's pretty simple, really. Subforums just don't get created if nobody's actually asking for them. If there was some real demand, the topics would already be there.

My plan is to just kick off fresh threads centered around biology—stuff that’s actually interesting and educational...
Honestly, I feel like biology is just as vital as, say, American history (if not more so)!
In case you hadn't realized, there are actually people out there who live and breathe biology... 😉

Good grief. Clearly, we need to put together an FAQ titled "How to Request a New Subforum." 😬

First off, you have to dig up a mountain of existing discussions on the subject within related subforums. That’s how you prove there’s actually a critical mass of users interested enough to warrant a dedicated space. You have to show there's a demand.

Then, you find a group of users willing to back your proposal.

But you don't have any existing threads, and you don't have a following. All you really have is your own personal conviction that this needs to happen. At that point, the results of your little initiative are going to be perfectly proportional to the effort you put in: absolutely nothing. 😁

Look, first off, you gotta dig up a massive pile of old threads on this exact topic scattered across related subforums. That’s how you prove there’s actually a critical mass of users who give a damn and want to talk about it, showing that a dedicated subforum would actually be worth it.

Then, you find a crew of users who’ll actually back your play.

But you? You don't have any threads, and you don't have a following. All you've got is your own personal conviction that this needs to happen. The payoff for this little initiative of yours is gonna be exactly equal to the effort you put in: absolutely nothing. 😁

Whoa, hey now, don't be like that... I know exactly what I'm supposed to do... 🙄
How am I even supposed to find that "mass" of people when those "related subforums" barely have anyone willing to start a thread about biology in the first place? People just show up to read stuff, but there aren't even any topics to look at... 🙄
And don't even get me started on the level of actual knowledge you need just to kick off a thread like that...
It's exactly because it's so damn complicated that people can't be bothered, and since there are no threads, there's zero discussion... 😢
Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming to be some genius who knows everything there is to know about biology... 🙄

George Rivera7 said:How am I supposed to find that crowd when there’s basically nobody on those "related subforums" who’d even bother starting a thread like this?

Man, you’ve got it all wrong there.😁

Anyway, just saying "it would be nice to have" isn't exactly a solid argument for launching a whole new subforum. Next time, maybe put a little more legwork into the idea.

Enivej, saying "it would be nice to have" isn't some rock-solid argument for starting a whole new subforum. Next time, maybe actually put some real thought into the proposal before posting it.

What do you mean, "off base"?! 🙄
Look, all I said was that having a dedicated space for biology would be useful.
And what am I supposed to do, just "put more effort" into it? (Don't go thinking my effort is zero 😢)—I'm asking why you guys slapped down subforums for stuff like dating, history, or politics, just because every single forum like this needs to have them...
Well, I feel the exact same way about biology...

And honestly, why don't we just toss a dedicated "biology" subforum right under the "natural science" section?

I mean, look at how things are set up with the "history" section—you’ve already got specific spots for stuff like "civil war history" and "military tech."

It feels like a total no-brainer to do the same here... 🤷

George Rivera7 said:Why would I be wrong?! 🙄

You're wrong because we actually have a decent amount of biology enthusiasts on this forum😁

I just said it’d be useful to have a biology subforum.
And why should I even bother (don't go thinking my effort = 0 😢) when you guys put in subforums for stuff like love, history, or politics, because every single forum like this needs to have those...
I feel the exact same way about biology...
☕

So, basically, I asked you to actually argue why we need a biology subforum instead of just saying "it'd be cool," and your big argument is just... that we should have it? *pop*

Look, why? Just give me ten straightforward sentences explaining why we need a new subforum. Put some work in. And throw in some links to at least five topics that you think belong there.

So, when I ask you to actually give me a real reason to justify a whole new biology subforum—instead of just saying "it would be cool"—you basically tell me... it should exist? *pop*

Seriously? Come on, give me ten solid sentences explaining why we need a new subforum. Put some actual effort into it. And throw in a few links to at least five threads that you think actually belong there.

Look, I know there are...

No, I'm not saying it would be "cool," I'm saying this subforum is absolutely necessary, if not downright essential.

Whatever, man, here's some links:
http://www.reddit.com
http://www.reddit.com
http://www.reddit.com

See, these are just a few examples of stuff related to biology...
There's a ton more, but I don't see the point in dumping fifty more links right here. I know what you guys are getting at, but there's no sense in doing that yet. First, just tell me if there's even a chance we can get a "biology" subforum created, or maybe just a "biology" section under the "natural science" subforum...

Look, if enough people actually show up and take an interest, there might be a fighting chance
but if we’re talking about just you spinning your usual yarns with maybe two other guys nodding along in the comments—yeah, forget about it, no way in hell
For heaven's sake, does it really sound like that's asking for too much?
