PET Scans: What to Expect?

Does anyone happen to have any insight regarding this type of scan? I'd really appreciate any info you might have...
The thing is, I need to get a PET scan done, and it isn't available here in the States at all...

A PET scan is a modern diagnostic tool used to identify tumors (including recurrences and metastases), certain brain conditions like Alzheimer’s or MS, and various heart issues.
The process works by detecting molecular abnormalities at the cellular level within the affected organs. This allows doctors to diagnose diseases much earlier than they could using standard CT or MRI scans.

As far as I know, getting a PET scan isn't really an option here in the States; our closest options would be in Canada or Mexico, where this method is gradually being integrated into mainstream clinical practice, though even there, it's still mostly reserved for specific, complex cases...

Basically, it tracks glucose metabolism, which—take Alzheimer's or frontotemporal dementia, for example—is usually way lower than it should be. The thing is, these scans are insanely expensive, so there's always gotta be a really strict medical reason to order one. If you don't mind me asking—and totally fine if it's private—who sent you for this and what's the story?

The hematology board gave me some updates...
Basically, I just went through an autologous stem cell transplant...
The diagnosis was Hodgkin Lymphoma following PBSCT... or something along those lines 🙂

Anyway, I've got my follow-up appointment scheduled and everything...

Every other month, they bring in this massive mobile PET scanner unit—it’s basically a huge specialized truck—that rolls right into the area around Osijek General Hospital for a few days of scans.
If anyone’s looking for more specifics, you should probably just check in with the Nuclear Medicine Department of Osijek General Hospital. You can't really just show up and ask for a scan on a whim, though; everything is decided during medical board reviews, so by the time that machine actually pulls up, the list of patients is already set in stone.
