PhD Diploma help/questions

Is there any way for a regular person to verify if someone claiming to be a PhD in anthropology actually holds those credentials? I’m looking to check their degree without actually reaching out to them directly—obviously, if I were going to talk to them, I wouldn't be asking here. If this is even possible, could someone point me in the right direction? I guess it helps to mention the person is retired. Sorry if this is off-topic, just trying to figure things out. Also, a little side note... this person keeps arguing that they aren't obligated to prove anything to anyone (which, fair enough), but they constantly drop lines like, "You can't talk to a Dr. of Anthropology this way," or "We scientists are part of the divine mind." It feels incredibly pretentious, but anyway, my main question is the important one.

If you happen to know which university she got her PhD from or maybe even what year she finished, you can usually dig up a list of alumni and their dissertation topics on the school's official website. Some universities even host full digital copies of the dissertations themselves! As for anthropology, I’m pretty sure you'd find that program over at the College of Arts and Sciences.
