Just a quick heads-up on how to handle this mega-thread—once you've clicked through all those dots, make sure you head back and give this thread a solid re-read.

Best, Akcija2 😉

even though our American culture—which is shaped by all these deep-seated regional traditions—is full of unique swear words. We say stuff like, "get lost" or worse,
and while those insults have basically become part of everyday slang—to the point where you don't even notice them in casual conversation anymore—
there are still certain profanities that trigger an incredibly intense emotional reaction from people.

And honestly, it baffles me.

(...)

But I’ll never stop being surprised by how ready people are to actually kill someone—or at least get into a massive brawl—just because they insulted your mother, 😎 your kid, the country, or any other "sacred" thing.

Even here on the forums, people go absolutely ballistic when someone (virtually) talks trash about their family.

So now I'm wondering—why does this happen in a culture where cursing is practically a second language?

(...)

Bajki1 said:(...) rather, what confuses me is the raw emotion of someone reacting to a total stranger on the street swearing at their mother—as if you're suddenly obligated, by some unwritten social rule, to hunt them down and kill them just because "Mother is sacred"
and can't be touched, so you have to beat them up!? Like, what are you actually defending?

Is it her honor?
I mean, your mom is still a good person regardless of what some random jerk who doesn't even know her says about her, right?

(...)

It feels totally irrational to see people fly into a rage over mere words just because someone insulted their parent.😕

People react so passionately to those specific types of insults! Especially here in the States!

Why is that?

Bajki1 said:(...) What I really want to get to is WHY we get so angry at a swear word in the first place?

Take this scenario:

Some stranger "threatens" you with an insult involving your mother or God.
It's purely imaginary because—firstly—they don't know your mother,
and secondly, they certainly aren't going to reach out and actually do anything to God.😎

I'm talking about reality here.

Or do people believe that an imaginary insult is the SAME as a physical act?

As if "violating" a mother or a deity through words could ever be real?

Doesn't it seem to you like some weird, irrational form of identification is happening?

A cult of myth?
A cult of the Mother? A cult of God?
A cult of Honor?

Because I mean, what ACTUAL, REAL damage can someone's swearing really do to you?

Hey, Akcija2 😉[/COLOR] [/B]

Now you're joining in on the beatdown!

Look, my buddy stormywolf65 shouldn't have gone that hard with the insults, and honestly, Akcija2 probably overreacted a bit too much, but I really don't think Ljuti, stormywolf65, or myself deserved to get banned from the whole forum!

Maybe we could settle this with some kind of conditional...

Come on, let's just have everyone issue apologies and call it a day.

Look, I’m all for a little roughhousing—a gut punch, some trash talk, maybe even a shot to the nose or a wrestling match to settle things. But this guy? This absolute bottom-feeder who spends pages pretending to be an anti-fascist while actually acting like a total Nazi sympathizer? No way. Seriously, screw him. And he's actually having the nerve to act all high and mighty, thinking he’ll just get banned and then pop right back up with a new username in five minutes like some kind of "hero." What a joke...

Yeah, no. Not happening.
Leave my mother out of your mouth!!!

My mom has absolutely nothing to do with you. She doesn't deserve to have her name dragged through the mud by a scumbag like you. My mother is off-limits to you. And to everyone else, for that matter. Got it?
Don't you dare disrespect a mother.

Lipa, you really lucked out by being born an idiot.
Actually, you're lucky you'll never realize just how much of an idiot you are.
You were born a jerk, and you're going to die one.

And honestly? You're lucky this is a forum where even lowlifes like you are allowed to hang out.

I don't really get the point of this thread... feels like some weird power trip... I'm just lost because... Akcija2 is rarely someone worth debating on Politics... yet here we are, with someone trying to go step-by-step to explain why she's such a mess and needs "professional help"... all sorts of nonsense... and on top of that, in LK too... 🙄

That’s a massive stretch. If she’s actually useful for anything, it’s only when she’s tearing down those "progressive" types to show they’re nothing more than transparent, hypocritical, pathetic caricatures.

My buddy lipa shouldn't have been quite so insulting, Akcija2 shouldn't have reacted so aggressively, and honestly, Ljuti, lipa, and I didn't deserve to be banned...

Maybe some kind of conditional amnesty.....

Come on, let's just offer apologies all around... and call it even.

Buddy... I am not going to apologize to fascists. There is simply no point. I can still engage with them here on the forum if I must, but an apology? Absolutely not. I see no reason for it.

And no... I am not calling the resistance fighters fascists. I am labeling those who support the post-war fascist regime. Because there are plenty of them—I know a few personally—who were actually part of the resistance, yet they stood firmly against the fascism that followed. Those are the real people, the ones brave enough to admit that the leadership back then was fundamentally flawed...

And let me be clear... I'm not calling the partisans fascists. I’m calling out the people who support the post-war partisan fascism. Because honestly, there are plenty of them (and I know a few personally) who were actually in the resistance but ended up standing against that whole post-war fascist regime. Those are the real ones—the folks brave enough to say that Marshall was a total jerk regardless of everything else.

And you’re actually surprised by that? Such hypocrisy... just your typical old-school American leftist, constantly shifting with whichever way the wind blows, yet always finding some primitive way to wage war...

So I’m sitting here, just trying to make sense of this whole revolutionary "comrade" nonsense, when I stumble upon this absolute gem in her latest post:

"I am no comrade to fascists."

Which, if you follow the logic—and believe me, I’ve spent way too many late nights staring at the ceiling trying to find logic in this chaotic world—basically means Ljuti is a fascist. Just like that. Pure, unadulterated irony right there. Isn't life grand?

Pallas, do us all a favor and step in here.

ironbadger31 said:Btw, let’s clear one thing up right now—I don't treat every swear word the same way (that’s just my call and my right to moderate how I want—not naming names here). There’s a massive difference between someone losing it because they were provoked versus someone just being unprovoked. It’s not the same when you’re swearing at a troll versus when someone’s just being a total savage. And it’s definitely different when someone swears mid-debate compared to when they’re just trying to start drama and kill a thread.

That’s what dustyscout53 doesn't actually get—honestly, this whole thread is just a perfect excuse for him to take his own little issues out on me (aka my moderation style). Still, this thread has a totally different purpose, so dustyscout53, maybe try not to make everything about yourself again? 🙂

The guy insulted someone’s family—specifically, their mother. And you didn't go after the person who actually wrote it. You can spend all day explaining your logic and sure, some people might agree with you, but if anyone else—Athena, Simba, or whoever—did the same thing, I’d give them the exact same response. Look, even though I can't stand the way you moderate, it’s just plain stupid to expect you to pull a blunder like this and walk away without me saying a single word. I don't think you have a personal vendetta against Stock, or that you're siding with Lipog, but I do think you're completely incompetent as a moderator—which is exactly why I’m going to speak up every single time I have the chance and the arguments to back it up. This isn't the first time you've heard that from me, either.

Anyway, hope you guys have a nice rest of your night and good luck trying to justify this nonsense. 🙂

If you had just stuck to my previous post—and kept things civil without all the swearing—we wouldn't be here. There wouldn't be any drama, this whole thread wouldn't exist, and I wouldn't be forced to hide behind smiley faces and vague nonsense just to avoid being mocked every time I try to make a serious point...

It’s a shame, really. You could have learned so much about how to act on an American online community after that last big blowout everyone was talking about, but it looks like you haven't moved an inch since then.

You can dress it up in fancy legal jargon, you can try to spin it through some twisted lens of political necessity or social nuance, but when someone breaks the fundamental rules that hold our society together, the label doesn't change just because you've found a more palatable way to say it. It’s like when I was driving through Chicago last winter—everything was covered in this thick, grey slush, and no matter how much you tried to convince yourself the roads were clear, one wrong turn and you realized the reality was exactly what it looked like. Truth isn't something you can negotiate with, and neither is basic morality. If an act is wrongful, it stays wrongful, regardless of who is doing it or what excuse they try to attach to it.

revolution said:the whole mess comes down to this thread because the mods are acting like they're our preschool teachers or some moral police instead of just—you know—ACTUALLY following the rules. I mean, ironbadger31, you basically wrote and signed off on these rules yourself, didn't you?

and that’s pretty much the whole "deep thought" there. It's not about any political stuff, you know, none of those far-left or far-right extremists people are obsessing over right now.

I mean, it wouldn't hurt to point out that even though we have clear Forum rules (plus other regulations too), you still see people here totally flying under the radar. Like, guys who literally list April 10, 1941, as their birthday, or say their location is "chaos" and use an avatar that matches that vibe...

which really shows🙄 😁just how far things have gone downhill here.

Plus, I guess the takeaway from this whole thread is that the rules don't apply to everyone equally. It feels like if you're sneaky enough, you can somehow make the nonsense from one Lipog and an Action2—let's call it—"educational" curse seem okay.

rules, rules... gonna choke me to death... or break my spine... and drive me crazy... some weird black rules wrapping around me... ohhhhhhhh! just some lyrics from riblji Čorba... can I get banned for that? 🙄 😁 😁

Look, since you're out here fetishizing a proven war criminal like Josip Broz Tit, you really shouldn't be lecturing anyone else on what they can or can't put in their signature... you get me?

So, don't go catching me with an "educational" curse, okay?

Anyway, ironbadger31, just ban her if she's asking for it... it might be a small step for mankind, but it'd be huge for the Forum.👍

This feels like a direct assault on our cultural heritage!

I mean, back home in the States, when we want to tell someone they’re one of the good ones, we might say, "You're a real straight shooter!" or something equally blunt. 🙂

Look, buddy, if the roles were even slightly different—say, if Action were some kind of right-winger—you'd be standing right there with me on this thread. We've seen that happen countless times before. Your entire setup and the way you view this whole issue is biased and hypocritical; again, we've seen that proven over and over.

I'm not stopping you from doing that—actually, it's great that we have such a diverse group of people here. But as far as I'm concerned, we're done (talking about you, anyway). As for me, I'm still moderating just like I always have, and I stand by everything I did.

Now that Action is back, let's get back to the actual topic. 🙂
