So, here's the deal: I've come down with some damn bacterial skin infection. I went to see my dermatologist, and he prescribed some ointment and pills, but also told me to clean the area with a mild solution of KMnO4. Now, I have a question: can I go overboard with the KMnO4? Like, if I accidentally mix up a solution that's too strong, or if I end up cleaning it way too often, is something bad going to happen to me???
Thanks in advance...

I wouldn't count on it, but maybe check with your aunt at the CVS just to be absolutely sure...

Nothing much—unless you're looking to get burned. 😉 Just stick to the instructions.

Soooo... the bacteria have gone wherever dead bacteria go.

But, I picked up 10 grams of KMnO4 at the drugstore, which is (in my humble opinion) enough for a whole hectoliter of solution. So, I’m left with a massive amount of it.

Now, given that I deal with problematic skin and an oily complexion (and by problematic, I mean...🙄 ) would it be wise to occasionally cleanse my face with the solution?

Hmmmmmmm, honestly, not sure—maybe just buy something specifically made for facial skin? It’s way more sensitive than the rest of you... I'm thinking KMnO4 shouldn't hurt, but who knows how much it'll actually help. Just ask your aunt at the CVS or something; you probably don't need to run to a doctor for it...

With whatever leftover potassium permanganate you have, you could always play mad scientist (just grab a chemistry textbook or something) 😁 or maybe just dye some bedsheets or whatever.

No way. You’d need something like 50 grams just to make that main pool look even remotely colored. And even then, the jet itself is going to stay white. If you actually want to change the color of the stream, you're looking at needing about half a kilo.

As for using permanganate to wash your face—don't even think about it. There are way better products out there that actually work without being so harsh on your skin.
