Prince

Did anyone catch that on NPR this past Sunday? I think it might be one of those rare Black exploitation movies I haven’t had the chance to see yet... Man, it was incredible; just totally PIMPADELIC!!! Priest is such a cool character, and that fight scene at the end... absolute CLASSIC!

I was wondering, is that actually the original Prince from back in the '70s? I remember seeing the movie in a theater once.

It’s actually really nice to see that I’m not the only person here in the States who has a soft spot for the blaxploitation genre.

How on earth did you manage to watch most of them? There must be at least 200 out there, whereas I've only scratched the surface of a few... 😢
While "Shaft" remains my absolute favorite, I have to agree that "Superfly" is legendary—though it wouldn't come close to being that good without the Curtis Mayfield soundtrack (I own a copy 🙂 ).
Has anyone seen the sequel from the following year, "Superfly T. N. T."? I've read some pretty bad things about it...

I was actually thinking of the more famous ones. I’ve probably seen about 40 blaxploitation films in total, mostly on those random German channels—no idea where they dig them up, but they have everything. Honestly, you’d be surprised at what pops up on CNN during the late-night slots in the summer.🙂

PS There's a reason why certain movies stand out while others fade away (think the Shaft trilogy, Cleopatra, Foxy Brown, or Pharaoh); most of the rest are just bland and uninspired, which is exactly why the genre earned that "exploitation" label in the first place.👎
