I really need some help here... anything at all, because I've been banging my head against a wall for three days straight trying to fix this, and I'm just totally stuck.

My laptop is a Dell IdeaPad 700 running Windows 8.1 64-bit, and I'm trying to set up an HP DeskJet MP160 and an HP DeskJet MP210. I just cannot get either one of them installed... seriously, nothing is working...

Can anyone help me out? Every time I try to download the drivers, I keep getting this error message saying an error occurred while files were being copied.

Is it actually throwing an error right in the middle of the installation? You sure you're on the right download page—like, specifically the one meant for Windows 8.1?

I've tried downloading it from several different sites, but I'm getting nowhere.
It worked perfectly when I installed it on my other computer without any issues... but on Windows 8.1, it just won't happen no matter what I try...

Where exactly did you track down those Windows 8.1 64-bit drivers for the MP160?
Every time I hit up the official HP DeskJet MP160 site (here) and try to select Windows 8.1 64-bit, it just tells me my OS isn't supported and claims there aren't any drivers available.
I managed to find this for the MP210, though. Have you tried running that installer yet?

It’s honestly unbelievable... I had my old MP160 printer set up on this laptop perfectly until just two days ago when I upgraded to the new MP210.
I noticed yesterday that the drivers for the MP160 seem to be missing entirely... okay...
I was positive I'd already downloaded the MP210 drivers from this site, but nothing worked... luckily, after you sent me that link, I finally got it sorted. The printer is working now! 🙂 🎉🎉🎉

Does anyone know how to fix the scanner? I can print everything just fine, but scanning isn't working at all. Where can I find the specific drivers for that?

It should be the exact same driver.

Just out of curiosity, does that thing actually have a scan button on it? Like, if you hit it, would it actually trigger the scanning software or just sit there doing nothing?

Just curious, does it have a dedicated scan button? If you hit it, does any scanning software actually pop up?

There is a scan button... but absolutely nothing happens when I press it. I even downloaded VueScan, but still, nothing. It works perfectly fine on my other computer, so I'm guessing the issue is definitely with this laptop :/
