Look, I’ve got a problem with my printer. Every time I try to print something, the page comes out with nothing but the colored text. The black ink just isn't showing up at all. I checked the levels, and there's plenty of black left—I actually just swapped out the cartridges for the specific ones this model requires. I even double-checked that everything is seated correctly in the tray, and it seems fine. So, yeah... any ideas? Thanks in advance.

So, my old man dragged the printer down to the repair shop. Turns out, the service quote was way higher than just buying a whole new unit, so he went ahead and grabbed a new one. Everything seems fine on paper—it’s all hooked up properly, installation is done, power is on, ink is where it should be, and there's plenty of paper in the tray. But this piece of junk won't print for the life of me. What am I supposed to do now? Any ideas? Help me out here.

Look, obviously I did all that. Everything is exactly where it should be—toner is set, paper is loaded, the printer is powered on. But the thing just sits there silent. It won't make a sound, won't print a single thing. And then my old man brings home some repair guy whose expertise is... questionable, to say the least. Naturally, the guy couldn't fix a damn thing, so now he’s suggesting we either reinstall Windows or haul both the computer and the printer to a repair shop so they can "take a crack at it."

And you, blacky, you troll-spamming nuisance, try actually reading what someone wrote before you post next time.

Could you please just tell me which printer we're dealing with and which version of Windows you've got running? Like, what actually happens if you head into the printer properties and try to run a test page? If you’ve gone through the whole installation process, you should have some kind of diagnostic tool sitting right there in the printer toolbox—give that a shot. Somewhere along the line, an error message ought to pop up to help us pin down what's actually broken. While you're at it, check the Device Manager to see if anything looks funky there.

Short and sweet:
whenever I try to print a test page—nothing happens.
The printer is an HP OfficeJet and I'm running Windows 7.
Both a technician and I ran the diagnostic tool, but honestly, nothing useful came of it.

If you're down to help, we can just take this one step at a time.

right or wrong?

Check under Apps and features—are there any duplicate drivers hanging around?
Is the printer actually set as the default one in Printers & scanners?
Did you make sure the Print Spooler service is running and set to automatic?
Any error flags popping up in the Device Manager?

Look, since this hasn't been fixed yet and I'm still waiting on a technician from Geek Squad to show up, let's just close this thread, please.
