What are your thoughts on him and his body of work? (My apologies if there’s already a thread on this; I must have missed it.)

Rade is a legend in my book. Mad respect...

It’s a bit fuzzy what we’re actually supposed to say about him. I mean, did he really make it out of the states and carve out a real name in the American mainstream? Honestly, he’s definitely done more than Goran Višnjić, who basically never moved past his time on ER... though I wouldn't go so far as to say he did it through smart role selection. His parts tend to be pretty formulaic—just a bunch of tired clichés all poured into the same mold—so it's really just his sheer consistency that keeps his name recognizable. When I read stuff about him, even though I think he’s a solid actor—and yeah, I’d love to see him in more diverse roles—I mostly just end up reading about who he hung out with on set or how other big stars behaved, rather than any actual substance regarding his success as an actor. The last thing I remember was him turning down a few more episodes of CSI: Miami because the production was so shallow... his character was so one-dimensional that he could have easily skipped those appearances altogether. It was actually one of the few clear examples of how they handle "our" actors over there—since guys like Caruso and his crowd aren't quite massive enough stars, the American press doesn't bother pushing those stories about hanging out on set as much.

Every single movie released in the last decade seems to feature this one guy playing the exact same role. He talks the same way, acts the same way, looks the same, and even wears the same clothes. Looking back at the old classics, I remember him being decent in Wolf. As an actor? Fine. As a person? He's a total nobody.

Forget all that talk about a trip to Wolf territory; Rade is easily the toughest guy in the Beggars and Sons crew. 😁

Dial M for Murder. Mostly.

He’s churning through movies at lightning speed—it feels like he’s trying to catch every single train on the tracks, including the Harry Potter one... well done, Rade.
Still, I mostly remember him for his work back in the old regional circuit...

I don't know much about his private life, but I have to wonder why Dennis Doyle3 calls him a total zero. Not that I'm disagreeing, I'm just genuinely curious why they'd use such harsh language...

A few local roles from back in the day and... Before the Rain Milčet Mančevski You can't forget those brilliant episodes of Before the Rain Milčetin Mančevski. The Quiet American, Snatch, Eyes Wide Shut That’s more than enough to cement his status as one of the most successful actors to ever come out of this country. As for all that other stuff he churns out? Honestly, why wouldn't he? He does it for the paycheck. I mean, let's be real—what kind of idiot would turn down a guaranteed million-dollar fee per movie? 🤷 Take Višnjić, for instance. He’s been grinding away in Hollywood for ten years now, and honestly, aside from that one series, he hasn't really landed anything worth mentioning.

I'm actually curious about that too, since Dennis Doyle3 always strikes me as one of the sharper minds on this board. 🤷 Honestly, it’s getting exhausting how the same tired arguments just keep circling back around like a broken record. It’s always this endless loop of bitterness and spite, obsessing over whether Šerbeđija was in some Mexican movie about El Paso, or some supposed nostalgia for the old days, or his work over at the Ulysses Theater. There’s always going to be some mediocre, failed writer lurking in the media—I’m looking specifically at you, Čadež—who feels the need to take cheap shots at Šerbeđija or go on these long-winded rants through open letters, blah, blah, blah. 🙄

Those three were definitely his strongest American roles, and I used to follow his career pretty closely back then. But over time, he just started picking up everything that comes his way, and I can't keep up with it all anymore. There's nothing wrong with that—let him grind and make his money—but personally, I've lost interest... though that's a far cry from saying he isn't successful.

Still, it was pretty entertaining watching him in Batman Begins. He really leaned into that old-school Michael Caine energy during the gunfight scene. :D

Boris is hands down the best character...

When he’s selling that gun to Tommy... Tommy mentions how heavy it feels, and Boris just shrugs it off—"Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always hit them with it." 😂

The older an actor gets, the worse they tend to be.

Honestly, I think we should give him massive credit for what he’s pulled off without much help—it’s truly impressive. We're living in the 21st century, and while parts of the North America can feel a bit small-town, the US and England are definitely playing at a much higher level—well, obviously except for those rougher neighborhoods, but hey, you find those everywhere. 🙂☕

The guy is an absolute legend. That movie "Saint" was incredible.
It’s just a shame he always ends up playing some Russian character. -.-
I wish they’d cast him as an American just once, but no, it’s always a Russian or a Ukrainian.
There’s this one scene in that teen movie where the kids are backpacking through Europe and stumble upon him in some tiny backwater town; he’s just cruising along on a bicycle XD
For anyone hoping to catch him on the big screen, he’ll be appearing in the next Harry Potter installment next year.

Boris The Blade, for sure, hahaha 🙏. If we're talking standout roles, I’d have to point out his turn as the main villain in Saint and one of those bad guys back in season six of my favorite show, 24 😁. And from what I hear, he’ll probably show up in the new Harry Potter too. Most of the time he just grabs these smaller parts, but I totally agree—he’s definitely made a much bigger splash than Višnjić ever did... All in all, I really hope we keep seeing him on screen 😁
