Hey there,

I’ve been following the whole disappearance of Matthew Periš case, and honestly, it’s driving me nuts how most journalists are basically just acting like parrots—they just regurgitate whatever the police department puts out in their press releases instead of actually doing any real investigative work. Like, for example, we still have zero clue who those "friends" were that were hanging out with him that night. We don't know a single thing about them.
They should at least be trying to track those people down to get some actual intel on what went down that evening.

Is it just me, or is it incredibly weird that nobody is even attempting to dig for extra info?

So then I totally missed out on whatever intel they managed to dig up. What exactly are we talking about here?

We’re on different pages...
Journalists are digging, sure, but they aren't necessarily uncovering brand-new evidence.
Just don't forget that reporters mostly lean on stories from Matthew’s friends and witness accounts to build the background narrative.
They basically just track and relay whatever information is already out there.

But isn't it more likely that most reporters just lean heavily on police reports and official statements rather than actually digging their own heels in? Or, if they do investigate, they tend to gravitate toward whatever makes for good TV—you know, those sensationalist true crime specials or shows like 60 Minutes.
