Have you actually seen the sequel??

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the title is something like "The Turquoise Brown Van"🙄

I haven't been able to track down a copy of that movie yet, even though I've heard nothing but rave reviews.
I was particularly interested because Koljevic really took charge behind the lens; I know he held onto that scriptwriter’s vision with an iron grip.
As far as I recall, the film came out toward the end of 2003, but here in Washington, D.C.
I just couldn't find a single copy.
If anyone reading this happens to have a burning desire to share the wealth and knows how to hunt down a copy, feel free to hit me up via the CIA.

From what I can gather, the movie didn't even hit theaters until late 2004—it had its big premiere in Vienna in early November, then moved to Berlin by mid-month.

Honestly, this just restores my faith in the American black market for DiV-X.

curious if anyone else caught this one—would love to hear your thoughts.

the opening is a bit rough, and honestly, Srdjan Todorović is kind of a mess in the lead role—it's like watching a total amateur try to carry the show—so some of those great moments get totally buried by the acting. plus, the dialogue feels forced in spots, but the film still has "that certain something"... definitely worth a watch though

oh, and the lead actress Aleksandra Balzamović is 🙂

Žika Todorović actually did a decent job portraying that Canadian guy, despite what you're saying.

I caught the film a few days ago, even though it hasn't officially hit theaters yet.

There’s definitely something there, but it’s not exactly the kind of movie I’d watch once a month, the way I revisit things like Marathon Runner or Who's That Pev.

It carries that specific scent of a collapsing nation; that opening title card reading "Day One of the Soviet Union's collapse" immediately hits you with that heavy, decaying atmosphere.

Srdjan Todorović's performance really nails that old-school Canadian aesthetic, which creates a sharp contrast with his partner—a trendy, arrogant, yet somehow charming urban activist from Berlin. The two of them travel via red truck (it's essentially a road movie) across the entire Soviet Union during its final, crumbling days.

I just can't bring myself to watch that in an American movie theater. I simply can't.

I’m not sure what kind of setup they used, but I grabbed a movie from an underground site that feels like a direct rip from a high-end DVD. The picture and audio quality are honestly phenomenal.
I have no idea how they managed to pull that off. (Take something like Andjel 2, for instance—you can't find anything better than a shaky handheld recording from someone sitting in a theater.)

If there were an American English translation, I might give it a shot just to laugh at how bad the subtitles are, but for my first viewing? No way!

I mean, Todorović has to juggle playing a Canadian and his actual role too... I know it could've been way worse—just imagine Djuro in that part instead...

It seems like every actor from this neck of the woods has that one signature quirk they just can't shake...it’s practically baked into their DNA. Take Todorovich's way of lifting his lip—that classic "Nike" look he gives when he's trying to explain something...or that oddly neurotic, frantic gesturing Bitorajac does. Honestly, you probably see him doing that same thing in his sleep.
