The whole concept actually stems from this
A
computer game, often referred to as a PC game, is defined as a type of video game played on a
personal computer (PC) instead of a dedicated console or an arcade cabinet.
I think you jumped to the wrong conclusion by assuming "computer game" only refers to PC titles. You likely got that idea because this specific paragraph is discussing PC games specifically, not computer games as a broad category.
Look at this for context:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_consoleVideo game consoles are essentially specialized home computers designed primarily for gaming...
At the end of the day, consoles are just computers. They just have a different chassis than a standard PC. They still pack a CPU, a GPU, RAM... they have all the same guts as any other personal computer.
I also suspect this first paragraph makes a flawed assumption by equating computer games entirely with video games (calling it "a type of video game"). There are purely text-based games out there with zero video or animation; technically, those aren't video games, but they are definitely still computer games.
Anyway, I think this entire initiative is unnecessary. "Computer game" is a perfectly valid term.
