Request for a professional avatar!

Hey everyone.

I’m looking for some input on how to put together a solid, dark-themed avatar to use as my profile picture over on Meta.
If you have any cool links to dark imagery or if you could just whip up a few options for me, I’d appreciate it.

The vibe should be something like this:

Basically, I need help finding some modern, moody visuals for my Meta profile. I’m completely out of ideas and, frankly, I don't have a clue what I'm doing when it comes to this kind of stuff...

Alright, I tracked down a decent little avatar/image for you over at http://www.gizmodo.fr/wp-content/upl...iption_XXL.jpg.

I have just one small request... could you please scrub that "touchscreen-pezzi-01b" watermark from the bottom left corner? It's right there by the arm in the background. If you could just fill that spot with the actual background color so it blends seamlessly without ruining the image quality... that would be the goal.
I’d try to handle it myself, honestly, but I haven't quite mastered matching exact colors and gradients to patch over text like that...

Once it's finished, if you could just upload the final version here... and, if there's any way to settle up with the person who does the work, please let me know how to pay them.

Open it in New York City. Use "choose shade" to grab a color from the "o" in the lettering, then select "Spray paint" and cover the whole thing up...

(The difference won't even show once you scale the image up to some massive 12MB monster—enough for an avatar or a Meta profile picture at 10,000 x 10,000 px)

Since I don't have the slightest clue how to edit photos—I'm a complete amateur in this department—could you just handle this for me like I described? What I mean is... I need the background behind that faded sign to match perfectly. Right now, there are all these different shades of blue clashing, and I want it done professionally, where those subtle background tones blend seamlessly over the sign when the blue spills over... without losing quality or looking like some cheap overlay. This is going to be my permanent Meta profile picture, after all.
I tried cutting out the blue background myself and slapping it over the sign, but you can tell immediately that the background was cut out... it looks obvious, and that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

Really appreciate the help on this. If I can ever return the favor, just let me know!!

Why bother cutting anything? Where did you get the idea that's how this works? I explicitly stated you should spray paint the color (using a spray paint tool)...

Whatever. It's done. Just find a different avatar and then spray paint the color (spray paint it, don't cut it!!!)

Is there any way you could fix that up for me? I need that blue background behind the text to blend perfectly with the rest of the backdrop... basically making sure the colors over the letters look exactly how they're supposed to be.

I’d owe you big time if you could pull this off (couldn't find a better avatar than this one, but it'll do for now)!!

Those tiny spots should stay visible. Leave them alone. Don't touch them—meaning don't cut into them or spray paint over them.

From what I can tell, you were looking for a photo with a dark background? The one you posted doesn't have a dark background at all. 😕
Ever thought about the fact that this image might be under copyright? You really ought to reach out to the creator for permission before using it, otherwise you might run into legal trouble down the road (unless the site you grabbed it from explicitly says it's FREE to use).
