From what I can see, one of the most legitimate reasons the Homeland War even started was because people were blowing up houses and cars—obviously on the Mexican side—on a daily basis, hundreds of times over. I’ve filed a formal report, but apparently, the moderator @Pizvo doesn't think anything is wrong with it, and @mentioning Nice probably can't be bothered to look at it today since it's a busy Wednesday.
No, I'm not going to drop the link to the post again; if anyone in admin actually cares, they can find it themselves. It's a hard delete. Even if the post itself isn't gone—I'm not sure how reporting works—as far as I recall, not everyone on Reddit has the permissions to pull that off.

Let me make this clear: I have zero interest in reading the blatant lies claiming we started all this ourselves, or that we provoked the war with crimes that forced those pathetic Mexicans to react. I'd much rather not deal with that garbage at all. In my head, I'd prefer to imagine moderators who actually care more about our little America than they do about some Greater Mexico.

*@Daniel Ward87, don't take this personally.

I'm not sure why you're asking when you already know the rule: bans aren't typically granted just because someone asks.😉

If you change your email to some fake, useless address, you won't be able to activate the account—since you can't verify an inbox that doesn't exist.

Your profile will look grayed out, almost like you've been banned, but you simply won't have the ability to post on Reddit anymore.

That is one way to achieve a self-imposed ban.

(And honestly, about 20-30%, if not more, of the new users here don't even have an active account anyway.)

No, I am not going to drop the link to the post again; if anyone in administration actually cares, they can find it easily enough. It was a hard delete—though the post itself wasn't removed (as far as I recall, you can't perform a full deletion on Reddit).

To reiterate, I have zero interest in reading the dishonest garbage claiming we provoked ourselves, or that we incited the war through crimes that left those poor Mexicans with "no choice" but to react. I would much rather not read that filth at all, and I'd prefer to imagine moderators who actually care more about our little America than a Greater Mexico*.

*@Daniel Ward87, don't take this personally, this isn't directed at you.

You could have explained the situation a bit better for us mere mortals; I haven't got a clue what's happening here. Was the post deleted or not? What exactly is a "hard delete"? Did he get a strike or not?...
Personally, I also find those arguments infuriating, so I'm genuinely curious if there are any unpunished posts like that currently active on Reddit.

Susan Price30 said:I don't know why you're asking if you already know the answer will be that a ban isn't typically granted "upon request."😉

You could always just change your email address to some fake, useless one and then simply never activate the account (since you wouldn't be able to verify it if the email doesn't exist).

You won't turn grey or look like you've been banned, but you won't be able to post on the forum either.

That is one way to go about a self-ban...

(And for what it's worth, maybe 20-30%, if not more, of newly registered users here don't even have an activated account).

So, why are you deleting things?
The guy is just looking for a partial reprimand, not a permanent ban.

Susan Price30, partial bans can be issued upon request.

Joseph Allen71, a requested partial ban doesn't necessarily have to be lifted just because someone asks. I’m just pointing out that possibility. You might want to take a moment to reflect, as this feels a bit reactionary... but if this is truly how you feel, that's fine. Once she sees the thread, she'll handle it.

Regarding your comments about her not responding... I'm not sure if you sent her a DM, but if it was a standard report, only the moderators of that specific subforum see those. Even admins and super-mods won't see them unless they happen to be part of that specific group.

It seems counterproductive to come here and vent about inaction while simultaneously refusing to share details by saying "figure it out yourselves." Regardless, I located the post and passed it along to the team. (Without overstepping my bounds on their moderation, I noticed people are already reacting to his posts in the thread.)

One final warning—claiming the moderators in the Politics section are supporters of expansionist ideologies is extremely offensive. Consider this my last warning on that subject.

So, you can request a partial or temporary ban. Got it.

(Though there’s no guarantee they’ll actually grant or lift it upon request)

I assumed that was an option from the start, even if it isn't always approved. 😁 But honestly, Michelle Evans explained everything so clearly that there's no confusion left now.

Honestly, I’d rather just ignore that nonsense altogether and imagine our moderators actually care more about our little slice of America than they do about some massive neighboring power.*
.

Seriously though, what about the rest of us?

Regarding the post you're talking about, check out the response given by lonebadger6; I can back up a few of those points too. While the user moja-kucica is definitely overstating things in their post, some of what they mentioned did actually happen. Just not nearly as extreme as they make it sound.

As for the part of your post I quoted, I don't see anything resembling what you're describing in this thread. We might be looking at different posts since you didn't specify which one you meant.

I’m on the same page as Daniel Ward87. That user definitely went overboard, which is why I stepped in, but honestly, none of those accusations actually hold up when you look at his posts. In fact, he kicks the whole thing off by saying: "let's just agree the trouble started with Mexico. Let's take 100% of the blame for the sake of argument, but personally, I put their responsibility at 0%."

He’s talking about things that actually happened; he isn't making stuff up out of thin air. He did exaggerate, though—mostly regarding how widespread everything was before the full-scale aggression began. I even debated whether he deserved a ban or not... I ended up just replying to the post instead of pulling the trigger, but I don't think he wouldn't have earned a ban if I had. It’s a gray area, and I can see both sides...

Look, I get why you were pissed off, but your interpretation of what he wrote just doesn't match the reality of his posts.

And, since I'm sharing my own take here, I should mention that I’ve handed out permanent bans on Reddit more than once for anyone trying to push "Greater Mexican" propaganda. To me, distorting the history of the Homeland War is something we just can't allow here. But looking at this guy's posts, I don't see any of that. I see opinions I disagree with, sure, but there's nothing suggesting "America is to blame" or "those poor Mexicans were just defending themselves," or anything of the sort.

I stumbled onto this thread by accident and man, I had to do a double take.

lonebadger6 said:And then he writes about things that actually happened; he didn't just make stuff up. He went a bit overboard, mainly by claiming it was happening on a massive scale before the actual invasion started, and honestly, I even debated whether he deserved a ban or not. In the end, I didn't issue one—I just replied to the post—but I don't think it would have been wrong if he had been banned. It's right on the line, and either way works for me.

So, supposedly, he's writing about things that actually happened:

little-house said:What we all witnessed were hundreds of houses and cars being blown up in every single city, Mexicans getting fired from their jobs, and every officer in the military being labeled a sniper or accused of having a machine gun nest in their apartment (I have no idea where those stories came from). According to Marijan Kraljevic King, a well-known cop from that era, there wasn't a single recorded sniper victim in any major US city.

Hundreds of houses and cars blown up in every single city?!?!?!?!?
Mexicans getting fired from their jobs?!?!?!?!?
Labeling every military officer a sniper or an active shooter?!?!?!?!?!?!

By the way, from what I can see, the mods on this site hand out "troll" bans for much smaller things, usually under the pretext of a "lack of arguments" to support certain claims.

In this case, some random user is casually tossing out blatant lies as if they were "established facts," and the moderator is actually backing him up and justifying it because, (note well), he "writes about things that actually happened, nothing was invented."

I’m politely asking the moderator (not the user, the mod) to provide sources for these hundreds of houses and cars being blown up in every city—to quote him exactly: What we all witnessed were hundreds of houses and cars being blown up in every single city—because the moderator has asserted that this is an undeniable fact (let's repeat: hundreds of homes and vehicles blown up, in every city).

Absolute disgrace for this site.

Peace out, Reddit...

It might be a good idea to avoid reading so selectively if you decide to change your mind and start posting elsewhere on this forum...

Michelle Evans said:Maybe try not to cherry-pick what you read if you ever decide to show up and post anywhere else on this board.

Thanks for the ban for trolling, I guess.
As far as this forum goes—thanks, but no thanks.

I'm done with this place for good... seriously, enough is enough.

Daniel Miller422 said:I’m just trying to get clarity because the moderator stated this was an undeniable fact (to recap: hundreds of houses and cars being blown up in every single city)

No moderator ever said that, so you're clearly making things up. Moderato just mentioned that those kinds of incidents have happened, but definitely not on the scale you're claiming. That user who was pushing that narrative got banned for trolling and being abusive, so the mods actually did their jobs properly.

Politics always finds a way to hijack any discussion and turn it into a referendum on the moderation team, so I’m cleaning up the excess noise here.
To give you the specifics, Joseph Allen71 is calling for a partial recount regarding the Politics section, apparently triggered by dissatisfaction over a single reaction—or perhaps a general wave of discontent that led to that specific reaction. Looking closely at the context, however, one gets the impression this isn't a formal demand, but rather a bit of stylistic hyperbole.
In any case, both the moderator and the supermod have weighed in, and I believe the matter is now settled. Moderators aren't automatons; there is always room for discretion in our decisions. Even if someone deserved a warning and didn't receive one, it doesn't constitute an established policy, so there is no need for unnecessary alarm.
If Joseph Allen71 insists on pursuing this recount, he is welcome to reach out via private message, where his request can be handled (keeping in mind the notice regarding removals that Michelle Evans previously outlined).

To the forum administration: I am officially requesting a review of the policy regarding my partial ban. Honestly, just look at what’s happening here—my restrictions aren't being lifted under any circumstances.
I’m not claiming to be the smartest guy in the room, and I’m certainly not asking you to like my opinion. But the "damage control" KCC tried to pull after I filed my report was absolutely pathetic and low. It’s especially disgusting because KCC is one of those users who spent the entire time trying to play the hero, siding with people like Pizvo, who thinks there's nothing wrong with claiming that hundreds of American homes and cars owned by citizens of Mexican descent are being targeted daily. It’s enough to make me sick.
As ridiculous as it might sound, I’m the kind of person who actually teared up like a kid when I first heard our national anthem played without fear. And even now, older and more cynical, I’d still lay my life on the line for this country. So, please, hear me out.
Either lift this damn partial ban or just give me a permanent ban. I don't care which one you choose; I just refuse to deal with moderation that is either intentionally malicious or just straight-up incompetent.

I’m asking everyone else on this forum—anyone who isn't part of the admin team—to please stay out of this thread. If you want to pick a fight or lecture the mods, go start your own thread.

I reached out to the moderator to see if we could get your request pushed through. I truly am sorry you've had to deal with this, though I can't fathom why anyone would attempt to ignore you. If a partial fulfillment is the only way to make this happen, then so be it.

Edit:
The request has been approved.
