Reviving old hazelnut crops

I'm not even sending a DM to the mods because I'm just hoping someone might actually recognize themselves in this thread. I've been posting on this forum for quite a while now—mostly over on the hazelnut boards—and I swear, I really can't remember a time when things were as messy as they are right now.

I mean, look, it's fine if people are just learning the ropes and everything is brand new to them (it definitely was for me too!), but man, I don't think I ever once had the bright idea to dig up threads that have been dead for years.
If nothing else, it's just about basic etiquette, you know? The worst part is when people start replying to stuff that isn't even relevant anymore, and suddenly the entire first page is filled up with a whole discussion, even though the original poster probably passed away from old age back during the reign of Ramesses VIII.🙄

Anyway... yeah, that's pretty much all I wanted to say.

Seriously, go ahead and ban me or whatever you usually do in these situations.🙄

That’s why people follow the leaders. If that’s an issue—and clearly, it is—then it’s on the moderators to post a notice or pin a sticky thread warning everyone about it. And if they keep starting new threads regardless, then there should be actual sanctions, like issuing warnings or bans.

It seems pointless to me too, but what can you really do...

Go ahead and crucify me if you must, but I find there’s something genuinely fun and even a little romantic about dusting off old threads. Why does everything in this day and age have to be consumed at lightning speed and then just tossed into the trash 🤣?

It’s honestly pretty ignorant to dig up a thread from years ago and act like we’re all just out here herding sheep together in the present moment.

But hey, why not? If only we could actually access archives from World War II—real debates between the opposing sides back then, instead of this watered-down, half-century-old political substitute we deal with now. Our kids would be lucky.

I actually stumbled upon one of those old threads once and saw Walter acting all sweet and charming with the ladies. Who knows what other "blessings" are waiting for us.

I’ll move this, but it'll still be obvious on the hazelnut that it was originally there before being moved... so I guess the hazelnut crowd will spot it right away.

I don't really have a single, clear-cut answer to that question.

1) If the topic isn't ancient history—one of those timeless debates where new people can actually bring something fresh to the table—and if it stays general rather than getting overly personal, then I'm all for it. There’s a huge difference, for instance, between a thread started by Mortyne asking "Have you sold out?" versus her starting a thread saying, "Here is exactly what I did, what do you think?" which just ends up blowing up because she's talking about her own specific situation...
A few of those threads (they're rare, but they exist) really should be pinned as top topics since they tackle those eternal questions; it would save everyone the trouble of starting the exact same discussion under a slightly different title.
2) In any other scenario, I'm against it.

I’m honestly with you on this—there should definitely be exceptions. Like, maybe a topic can be resurrected from the dead only if it meets very specific criteria? It feels like we shouldn't just assume every revived thread is unjustified. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that most people tend to ignore things and then suddenly drag a dead topic back to life for no actual reason at all. 🤷
