Look, we’re giving you a chance to make things right here. Just unlock the thread about whether ACTA should be adopted. If you don't fully get it, just remember the world isn't some black-and-white binary thing; it’s full of all these different shades and nuances. That specific thread holds a ton of other related stuff that might not be your cup of tea, but it's actually pretty constructive and interesting for those who follow this kind of stuff.

Thanks

Well, Sam Green73, I went ahead and started this new thread, and I’m really hoping that we can keep the conversation here much more constructive... hopefully with a lot less trolling than what we saw before.

James Patel20 said:Alright, Sam Green73, I’ve gone ahead and started a brand new thread here. My big hope is that we can actually have a productive conversation this time around without all the constant trolling getting in the way.

I think this version of the topic is much better structured.
It could have been framed a bit more neutrally, but it works.
One thing though—you didn't mention where you pulled that text from. I doubt anyone’s going to come after you for copyright issues, but it would be good practice to just cite your sources.

Hmm...

Your title suggests the exact same thing mine does, just from the opposite perspective...

Though, I guess that question mark at the end does change the tone a little bit...

Still, maybe you ought to have gone with "should ACTA be adopted?" instead...

I've added the link now.

I didn't include it before because it was essentially a "public statement," so I didn't think a direct link was really necessary at the time...

It looks like this new thread has already been hijacked by trolls...

I’d really appreciate it if we could try not to shut it down just yet...

Everything else seems to be following the standard community guidelines here, so if I need to take the fall for it too, then so be it...

Maybe I did fall for a bit of bait or some online provocation somewhere along the line...

Hmm... a private message is supposed to be private, but here we are in a public forum 🙂

Sam Green73, you can literally just download a plugin or some software online to archive your pm history—I honestly don't understand why you haven't found a way to do that and clear out your inbox already. This whole situation is frankly ridiculous... if someone sends a private message, it should actually stay private

Following your suggestion, I went ahead and started a whole new thread dedicated to copyright issues and ZAMP.

I figured I had to be the one to step up and get this going, since it seemed like nobody else wanted to actually start a serious discussion, and instead everyone was just busy trolling the old thread about whether should ACTA be adopted...

Hopefully, things will settle down now...

Donna Bailey67 said:Look, I get it—a private message is a private message, but this? This is a public forum. Let's keep things out in the open.

It feels like almost every single message hitting my inbox lately is just someone reacting to how things are being moderated around here.
Look, I’m putting my cards on the table here: I am more than ready to have an open, honest conversation about how we handle moderation and the decisions I've made. I don't want to hide behind a screen or dodge the tough questions—if there's something you want to dive into regarding my actions or our policies, let's talk about it.

If anyone is seriously looking to invite me to a party, just drop me a message here so I can clear out my PMbox a little bit! 😉

You did a great job with that!
I’m going to try something different here. I want to steer this whole ACTA conversation away from the usual nonsense and refocus it on what actually matters—specifically, the legalities surrounding anti-counterfeiting agreements. Honestly, I'm tired of seeing people get bogged down in debates about the quality of production coming out of some mystical forest; let's stick to the actual substance of the deal.
Thanks for working with me on this!

Here's my take.

1. The post I don't think warrants a ban:

I'm asking you to reconsider and pull the strike on this one.

And here's the other one:

Just hoping some common sense kicks in and you'll clear these strikes.

P.S. Is it really that hard to play fair as an admin, Nice?

Thanks

You’re honestly the textbook definition of an irresponsible moderator—someone who thinks just stating they're right is enough to end the conversation.

Maybe take a page out of Nice's book; she actually takes the time to walk people through their mistakes and helps them avoid tripping up again.
You want to know the real difference between you two? It's pretty simple: she doesn't hand out penalties just for the hell of it.

Henry Hernandez7 said:Some people really think they can just drop a "you're right" and call it a day. Honestly, if you think just saying those two words is enough to settle an argument or close the book on a discussion, you’ve got another thing coming! It’s not that simple.

I feel like I’ve walked you through these exact same steps more times than I can count!
Honestly, I’m a little lost here—I’m really not sure which part of my explanation is tripping you up.
You didn't actually offer a single counterargument there; you're just stuck in this loop, obsessively repeating your demand to get rid of the cardboard.

I honestly wish I could say I was as wonderful a person as Nice.
You really ought to try being more like Nice. Nice actually listens to what people are saying and builds a solid case for their arguments.

Hey, please, don't go insulting me.
If anyone decides to get nasty or even makes the slightest attempt at being disrespectful in their comments, don't expect a single word from me. I’m just not going to engage with that kind of negativity.
I’m just dropping this note here so you don't think I'm ignoring you or wondering why I haven't replied to your messages—hopefully, this clears things up!

This definitely doesn't warrant a ban:

"Quote:
Henry Hernandez7 says:
I don't have a link, so I can't prove anything. But basically, I "happened" to run into some people yesterday who represent both sides of the coin—government interests on one hand and big investors on the other—and we got talking about this whole situation, and man, what those foreign investors actually think just blew my mind.
I won't get into the specifics right now, but mark my words, one day this will all come to light.
It’s not contributing to the discussion.

Sam Green73:
If you can't or won't talk about it, stop spamming the board."

So, does that mean if I don't have a URL because the person I was talking to didn't post their statement online, I'm just not allowed to share it? Does this whole forum even have a point if that's the case?

P.S: Don't go claiming I insulted you, because I didn't, though if that's how you took it (which, honestly, fair enough), then my bad, it wasn't intentional.

Henry Hernandez7 said:Look, I’m not going to sit here and pretend I insulted you, because I really didn't. But if that’s how it landed on your end (and honestly, I get why you might feel that way), then I am truly sorry. It wasn't my intention at all.

😍
And there we go again 😍
. This whole approach is just pure trolling—you're basically just throwing out bait to see who bites.

I’ll actually turn your own logic back on you for a second.

Since I don't have a direct link to prove something that’s impossible to prove, I can't give you one.
What happened was, I happened to find myself hanging out this past Saturday with a group of people—some representing government interests and others being major domestic investors—and we ended up having a pretty deep dive into this topic. To be honest, I walked away absolutely floored by what those investors had to say.
I won't go into more detail right now, but your behavior speaks volumes about where you're coming from.

I think everything is perfectly clear now.
It’s just an unprofessional way to act with zero actual evidence, which makes it nothing more than spam.

If you were someone with a verified profile, a real name, and a reputation for actually running in those circles, I might say, "Come on, man, "—but since you're just posting anonymously 🙂
, it carries no weight. You’re welcome to present this as your personal opinion, but please, stop trying to sell me smoke and mirrors.
The whole point of this forum is to exchange real ideas, not to spread unverified rumors.

This whole thing is just pure trolling.

I'll just use your own logic against you here.

I don't have a link because I can't prove something that isn't meant to be proven.
Basically, I "happened" to find myself at a gathering this past Saturday with a group of people who represent both the government side and local institutional investors, and we got talking about this topic, and honestly, what those investors had to say just blew my mind.
I won't dwell on it further, but your track record speaks for itself.

I think everything is pretty clear now.
It's just an unserious approach with zero actual arguments, which basically makes it spam.

If you were some verified profile with a real name who actually hangs out with that crowd, I might say "come on now", but since you're just posting anonymously 🙂
You can frame this as your opinion, but please stop trying to sell us smoke and mirrors.
The point of this forum is to exchange ideas, not to spread unverified rumors.

Look, I'm annoyed because I wasn't even spreading gossip; I was just relaying what I learned, which is the truth. For a discussion on a forum, it shouldn't even matter whether my info came from my own head or a real-life event, because as far as I know, naming names or leaking specific details is a massive violation of the rules, especially when there are trade secret documents involved. I'm not even claiming to know exactly how much truth is in what I heard; I'm just saying I was stunned by what was shared.

Since I've explained why I wasn't just jumping into a debate without cause, I expect my ban to be lifted.

Look, you haven't really changed my mind, and I’m not planning on dragging this out over those 10 points—especially since they're just a tiny fraction of the 160 you've actually got active right now.
Anyway, take care and all the best.

Got hit with a 10 out of 10 ban... just because. I’d really appreciate it if one of the Admins could weigh in on this.

Thanks.

Request

Since you're the one who started this thread and you're also moderating, could you please step in and lock this topic? The discussion being linked over there really just boils down to two specific regions applying for European Union funds, which feels too narrow for this space.

On another note, I wanted to check before I post: will I run into any trouble if I start sharing some historical insights or past experiences here? I'm asking ahead of time because I definitely want to avoid getting flagged for off-topic posts.

Thanks
