Dear forum members,
Two months ago, I survived a brutal case of salmonella (that’s how it was documented in my discharge papers—severe). Anyone who has dealt with this knows it isn't just the unpleasantness of having diarrhea roughly 40 times a day; the abdominal cramps are absolutely catastrophic. The woman in my hospital room with the exact same diagnosis swore it felt worse than childbirth (and since I haven't given birth, I can't personally verify that claim)!
My current concern is the persistent stomach and abdominal pain, along with occasional bouts of diarrhea, particularly in the mornings and right after eating. I am making a genuine effort to stick to a healthy diet as recommended by my physician, yet sometimes even a glass of water causes enough gastric distress to floor me. During my follow-up at the infectious disease clinic, the doctor insisted I was fully recovered and told me there was no need for further stool testing. Are these lingering symptoms just standard fallout from salmonella?
I intend to see my primary care physician to get a referral for another check-up at the infectious disease center, but I would value your perspectives first.🙄
P.S. Where did you catch it??
I picked mine up at Baschiera (apologies if the spelling is off), so I am officially done with their pizzas!!
