I’ve got some outstanding citations hanging over my head, and I’m just sitting here waiting for the court to actually call me in after I filed my appeal...

I'm seriously considering taking a job out of state...
But if I leave now, I won't be able to handle any incoming calls or notices. It might look like I'm intentionally dodging the legal process...
Then they’ll probably just issue a warrant for my arrest, and if I ever try to come back home to the States, I'll get flagged at the border or during a routine check and end up in handcuffs...
Is there any way around this, maybe by giving a lawyer power of attorney so they can handle everything for me?

So you just head out, report your temporary absence to the local police department, and make sure to leave them a valid U.S. mailing address for any legal notices or court stuff they might need to send you.

It was the exact same thing with my sister when we moved to a different neighborhood in Chicago... she went ahead and updated her driver's license without a second thought...

Look, if we're being real here, your sister wasn't doing anything wrong, which means she didn't break any laws, but if the author of this thread doesn't step up and handle their legal responsibilities, then they're really going to find out what Jesus' suffering feels like.
